Novotel Bangkok Ploenchit Sukhumvit’s The Square Restaurant, famed for its regular features of International and premium seafood on its classic variety buffet, has gone back to its roots in March with an authentic spread of four traditional Thai cuisines from Northern, Isan, Central and Southern areas of Thailand.
The “Focus 4 Buffet,” available from now until 31 March 2013, is the centrepiece of The Square’s popular weekday dinner buffets, from Monday to Thursday, 6 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.
Southern menus include Kaeng Tai Pla - fish kidney with spicy soup, Phad Sa Taw Kung - stir fried Thai flat beans with shrimp, Khao and Nam Prik Kung Sieb or Southern minced grilled shrimp and chili paste dip with rice.
Close to home, the Central Thai offering includes familiar favourites; Khanom Jeen Nam Prik - white noodles with sweet curry sauce, Tom Yam Kung - hot and sour soup with prawn, and Thod Man Pla Kray - deep fried fish cake.
Fans of Isan food will delight to Khao Thod Naem Sod - crispy rice with fermented pork, Nam Prik Pla Ra - fermented fish chili sauce dip, Sai Krok Isan - Isan pork sausage and Sup Naw Mai - bamboo shoot salad.
Rounding off this extravagant and firey tour of beautiful Northern Thailand is Kaeng Hung Le - Northern Thai Pork Curry, Sai Aua - Northern Thai spicy sausage, Khao Sawy Kai - Northern Thai noodles in curry soup and more to enjoy.
