The Prime Minister had the opportunity to visit New Zealand companies, as well asenjoying New Zealand food and wine throughout her trip. “New Zealand is excited to share the very best of our food and wine with Prime Minister Yingluck,” says New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner to Thailand, Karen Campbell. “New Zealand seafood and wine are becoming more popular in Thailand, and is well known for its quality, safety and great taste.” Thai consumers are looking to New Zealand across a variety of sectors, particularly in food and beverages, as shoppers buy high-quality, safe and delicious products from New Zealand in their local restaurants and grocery stores. “We are committed to our traderelationship with Thailand and excited to host such an esteemed delegation in New Zealand.” New Zealand is also working with Thailand to serve the nation’s healthcare needs by providing information management tools and patient care systems at hospitals across Bangkok. New Zealand’sworld-leading health management templates are providing guidance as Thailand seeks to digitise its own healthcare system. Prime Minister YingluckShinawatra is in New Zealand from 22 to 24 March. Thailand Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is welcomed to Auckland, New Zealand with a traditional Maori ‘hongi’ - a pressing of noses used in greetings as a sign of respect — by the New Zealand Governor-General’s ‘kaumatua’. A kaumatua is a respected Maori elder and cultural guide.
