Airbnb’s new focus on South East Asia is already boosting activity in Thailand with the number of Airbnb bookings and new listings increasing dramatically since launch.The world’s leading community market place to list, book and discover unique private accommodations now features more than 1,300 Airbnb listings in Thailand, including 400 in Bangkok, 250 in Phuket, and 170 in Koh Samui. Airbnb officially launched its’ local operations in November last year, with a focus on engaging with its rapidly-growing community in Bangkok and throughout Thailand. The local teams’ focus on supporting hosts and guests has impacted the continued growth of Airbnb in Thailand, with a 25 percent increase in listings since launch.
Based on the annual report issued earlier this year, Airbnb announced a total of 4 million guests travelling on Airbnb, a figure that demonstrates rapid growth worldwide. In particular, Thailand saw a 477 per cent increase in guests travelling to Thailand and a 300 per cent increase in Thais who travelled with Airbnb in 2012.
