Scania sets a policy to use Thailand as its hub to strike ASEAN market by unleashing offensive strategy to expand marketing bases and services and lately arranging Scania Top Team Regional 2013; an Asia’s topmost technician teams.
Thai transporting vehicle market is so attractive at the moment which European dealers foresee great potential after AEC opening and aim to use Thailand as their bases to strike ASEAN since Thailand is considered as the ASEAN’s land transporting hub. Scania; a big dealer from Sweden announces to proceed with offensive policy for expanding its marketing base and services as well as give a fully support on government’s decision to invest in the country’s infrastructure and interlinking transportation which will strengthen up Thailand’s competitiveness. Lately, Scania showed the readiness in the field of service providing development by calling for the topmost technician teams from 10 countries across Asia and Oceania regions to join the ‘Scania Top Team Regional Competition in Thailand.
Mr. James Armstrong, Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia says about Scania’s policy towards Thailand that After AEC opening, Thailand will play significant role in linking up the Southeast Asia’s trade towards big countries such as China and India particularly in transportation and logistics industries. Thailand has a huge advantage since the country is considered as the land transporting hub within this region. Thus, it is extremely necessary for the country to make an investment in infrastructure and transporting routes that will link up all neighboring countries. Thanks to the government’s 2 trillion Baht mega project which is considered as the long term preparation to stimulate the expansion and rapid dissipation in economy throughout the country. In addition to Scania’s offensive policy, the framework has been set in accordance to government’s strategy particularly in the field of transportation which Scania Siam will be promoted as a key player and market penetrating hub in this region in term of marketing base expansion and business networking with Scania in nearby countries and providing services to customers across the region.
In addition to the preparation, Scania has developed the form of marketing and management under the concept ‘Total Solution’ consisted of the initiative of distinctive innovations with product variety and quality efficiency and customer services included giving advice, training and repair & maintenance as well as financial service specialized for the group of customers who want to purchase Scania’s vehicles.
Moreover, Scania has strived to develop the skill and provided training to its staffs and technic teams for the most effective service providing by emphasizing on teamwork and arranging Scania Top Team every 2 year regularly which is considered a big technical skill competition in Europe. This major competition was first initiated in1989 which aimed to develop skill, exchange knowledge and enhance experiences for the most effective problem solving. Practically, competition features teams with 3 — 5 technicians or specialists which this year estimates the number of participants up to 8,000 from over 63 countries. Altogether, the best teams share a total pot of 100,000 euros or approximately 3,700,000Baht. The 1st winning team receives 50,000 euros or approximately 1,850,000Baht. The runner-up receives 30,000 euros or approximately 1,110,000Baht and 2nd runner-up receives 20,000 euros or approximately 740,000Baht.
In addition to the qualified stage of Scania Top Team Regional 2013, Scania selected Thailand to host the competition representing 10 countries across Asia and Oceania regions i.e. Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand which would seek for regional representative teams to join the world finals, held in S?dert?lje, Sweden this upcoming November 2013.
Mr. Phuriwat Rak-Intr, General Manager of Scania Siam Co., Ltd. says about the effort to promote Scania Siam as marketing and customer services center in Southeast Asia that Thailand has good opportunity to show off true potential and readiness for being the regional leader in transportation and logistics. Scania Siam has prepared in various channels including service center expansion across the country, job enlargement in marketing and product divisions and service job elevation as well as additional services i.e. financial service, insurance, etc.
And when Scania Sweden selecting Thailand to host Scania Top Team Regional 2013, it proves that Scania gives precedence to the growth of Southeast Asia with Thailand being represented as the center of region and truly need to enlarge the investment scope in order to cope with the growth of AEC and help strengthening up Thailand’s economic growth.
