Dr. Markos Georgiou, holding a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, is appointed managing director of MSD Thailand. He will head the leading pharmaceutical company in Thailand with more than 500 employees and THB 6 billion sales.
With25 yearsof experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Markos brings considerable knowledge and expertise to his role in Thailand. During his tenure in MSD he worked in US-based HQ responsible for marketing for HIV and ophthalmic franchises, and later on he oversaw MSD business in Greece, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia/Bosnia, Serbia/Montenegro, Bulgaria/Macedonia/Albania, and Cyprus/Malta.Under his leadership, MSDranked second in growth for the Central Europe South region and fourth in market share.
Markos began his career at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Greece in medical and marketing functions. Subsequently, he served with Parke-Davis (Warner Lambert) in Greece progressing to general management.
Markos will work towards MSD’s mission to increase access of innovative medicines that improve the quality of life and satisfy the needs of healthcare providers and their patients, and to create meaningful work and advancement opportunities for employees.
