The Gemology Institute of America (GIA) Thailand marks its 20th anniversary by inviting members of the public to join a special lecture on experiences and inspirations along the road to masterpiece creation by world-class jewelers worldwide including Thailand. A rare opportunity to get up close and personal with high profile jewelers, for instance, James W Currens from the ‘Fai Dee’ brand — the creator of extraordinary gem prices for A-List brands like Cartier, Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels and Chopard; and Rareephan Sanguanpiyaphan, Thailand’s most-talked-about jewelry designer and owner of the brand ‘Sette’. The event opens to public free of charge and will be held at Multifunction room, Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre on May 31, 2013 at 13:30 — 16:00 hr.
As part of the 20th anniversary celebration, GIA Thailand is simultaneously organizing a contest in search of new generation jewelry designers under the theme “Create Your Own Legacy” to win prizes worth more than 900,000 baht. Interested person can download the application form at www.giathai.net.

James W Currens is the creator of various extraordinary gem pieces and the most recognized figure as the winners from more than 20 jewelry design contests. His latest collection “Fai Dee” won the highest bid at the Sotheby’s auction in 2012. Meanwhile, Peeraphan Sanguanpiyaphan, famous for turning the typical gem pieces into the modern art, is the successful designer in Thailand jewelry trade circle.
