This summer, Angsana Hotels and Resorts is set to launch its first hot spring destination retreat in Tengchong, Yunnan in Southwest China. Angsana Tengchong ? Hot Spring Village, situated in a valley near the western edge of the Yunnan province, offers 28 Hot Spring Retreats (suites with balconies) and nine villas, each with private hot spring tubs. The resort features a spacious Angsana Spa and an array of 43 outdoor and indoor hot spring pools. Angsana Tengchong ? Hot Spring Village is the fourth Angsana resort to launch in China, bringing a new enriching spa retreat experience to the hotel collection.
Angsana Tengchong ? Hot Spring Village’s architecture is inspired by classical Chinese poetry, paintings and decorations that pay homage to Tengchong’s unique culture and rich heritage. The design of the buildings reflects the local architectural style, with rustic olive green buildings and arched roofs, vintage flower-etched walls, and stone footpaths meandering through landscaped gardens.
Hot Spring Retreats and Villas
The 28 Hot Spring Retreats feature stylish rattan furniture and private sunken hot spring tubs in the centre of a spacious balcony, offering sweeping views of the canola flower fields and terraced farmlands surrounding the resort. Each Hot Spring Retreat room is extremely spacious at 70 square metres and embodies elegant simplicity, warmth and comfort. The four Deluxe Hot Spring Villas (180 square metres) are private one-bedroom villas with a garden and hot spring tub. An expansive living room leads to an exquisite gazebo where couples can enjoy a private massage or share a romantic meal. The four Premier Hot Spring Villas (270 square metres) are spacious one-bedroom villas with a large outdoor hot spring tub, a gazebo, a massage area and its own plunge pool. The exclusive Angsana Hot Spring Villa (1,700 square metres) is perfect for groups of friends and families, with its five bedrooms, private garden, indoor massage room, sauna and steam room, outdoor hot spring tub and a plunge pool.
Angsana Spa
The award-winning Angsana Spa introduces its latest innovative concept — a dedicated three-storey indoor Hot Spring Centre and Outdoor Hot Spring Area covering an area of 17,083 square metres. The Hot Spring Centre houses the Angsana Spa with six treatment rooms, a Foot Lounge, relaxation areas and sauna and steam rooms. Another spacious spa building houses volcanic hot stone loungers, which are naturally heated by the steam from the hot springs. There are also four Body Scrub Rooms and five spa treatment rooms. In addition, guests can book a large Cabana for up to ten people or one of the six cosy small Cabanas for two to four people for an exclusive wellness getaway.
The Angsana Zen is Angsana Spa’s signature treatment featuring an indulgent Angsana Massage, a body treat which includes a choice of body scrub and a nourishing Honey Milk Pouch body conditioning, followed by a calming bath. The Rainmist Experience, a revitalising combination of the Rainmist Steam Bath and Rain Shower, includes two packages - Rainmist Indulgence with a jasmine frangipani scrub and Rainmist Classic which features a black tea body polish and conditioner with steam bath.
The Outdoor Hot Spring Area showcases 43 hot spring pools offering different experiences and benefits. Guests can choose between six different themes — the ‘Aromatic Corridors’ offer hot spring pools with rejuvenating purifying qualities which are enhanced through the infusing of different Chinese teas and herbs such as ginseng and licorice; Couples/Romance Pools; exquisite Jade Pools; Nature/Forest Pools with scenic landscape; Special Functions Pools featuring Nano, Splash, Whirl, Bubble, Foot Reflexes and Kids Pools; and Main Pools. Guests can immerse in these different experiences to enjoy the healing benefits of the rich minerals in the hot spring waters.
Dining experiences
A wide range of local and international cuisine is offered through four food and beverage venues. Exquisite Yunnan favourites can be found at Chun Feng which also serves authentic Cantonese cuisines. Guests can enjoy exclusive dining in the three private rooms - Lunar, Drizzle, and Breeze, which seat 10 to 16 guests each. Located in the Hot Spring Centre, Waterlight Cafe is the perfect venue to embark on a gastronomic journey to wellness with innovative cuisine flavoured with herbs and other traditional oriental remedies.
Those looking to refresh and relax can unwind in The Lounge by sipping a hot beverage or cocktail while overlooking the resort’s beautiful water features and inner courtyard garden. The Food Kiosk and Pool Bar, located in the vicinity of the hot springs, is a convenient stop for fresh juices or light bites to replenish energy.

Recreational and meetings facilities
Angsana Tengchong ? Hot Spring Village features a range of world class facilities, including a well-appointed 100 square metres conference room that can accommodate up to 40 people for business meetings or team building. Rooms for table tennis, snooker, Xbox, and Mahjong are available for guests who prefer indoor recreational activities. A kids club is also equipped with an entertainment area for books and toys.
About the destination
Tengchong County is a county of Baoshan City in the Western Yunnan province and borders with Burma in the northwest. It is home to one of China’s most famous volcanic mountainous areas with over 90 hot springs and volcanos dotted through the mountains with several small rural villages surrounding the main town. It is an area of breath-taking natural beauty and is blessed with balmy tropical temperatures for most of the year with April being the most favourable month. Angsana Tengchong ?
