Evolution and identity: distinctive features of the Eiffel Tower and the Commander
For the watchmaker Mido, the extraordinary architecture of a monument is synonymous with a mark of true design, just like the Commander, which this year reveals some subtle changes. Retaining its authentic character, this new model has an automatic movement and features numerous technical details attesting to its development. Protected by a sapphire crystal, the anthracite dial with its sunray satinated finish displays indexes reminiscent of the latticework of the Eiffel Tower, an edifice that conveys the identity of Paris much as the Commander has epitomized Mido since its creation in 1959.
A hymn to iron, the curves and oblique lines of the Eiffel Tower exert a genuine fascination. Both symbol and monument, it stands out by its technical and architectural perfection. Evolving with the times it has forged a powerful identity over the decades, just like the Commander, which beautifully evokes this bold and legendary construction.
With a 40 mm diameter, this timepiece is equipped with an automatic movement. The Commander has been given a new look, but retains the strong character so emblematic of the collection. The perfectly round case and steel exterior call to mind the curves and the iron of the Eiffel Tower. Numerous technical details also testify to its development. A sapphire crystal protects the dial. With an anthracite sunray satinated finish, it still bears the inscription “datoday”, signifying day and date aperture. Through their shape the applied indexes evoke the latticework of the Eiffel Tower. They are treated with white Super-LumiNova?, as are the hour and minute hands, making it easy to tell the time even at night. The crown remains integrated in the case, which has evolved from a one-piece design to a three-part structure. The Commander is mounted on a satin-finished stainless steel bracelet. It is also available with a silver or black dial.
