Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. announced its success in remaining one of the most popular brands of automobile that meets the demands of all customers in Thailand, maintaining its position as the No.1 sales leader in the passenger car segment in May. Sales for May reached 21,709 units, up 7.4% from April 2013 (with 20,202 units sold), and 40% higher than the 15,601 units sold in the same period last year. Honda’s accumulated sales of 114,113 units for the first five months of the year, from January to May 2013, were also the highest in the passenger car segment.
Honda has held the No 1 position in the Thai passenger car segment since the last quarter of 2012, continuing as the No 1 sales leader with the highest accumulated sales from January to May 2013. This success is attributed to Honda’s proactive marketing activations, meeting a full range of customer needs and lifestyles by launching 12 new models during 12 months, which set a record for the highest number of new models of cars launched in Thailand. After production resumed at its Ayutthaya plant in early April 2012, the most popular model is the Honda City, which is in the subcompact segment. It has received tremendous customer acceptance due to its unique design and performance, with sales of more than 120,000 units between April 2012 and May 2013.
In 2013, Honda is striving to rapidly deliver quality vehicles to the Thai market. This year, the demand in other automobile market segments continues to increase with high growth potential. Honda rolled out the luxurious, all-new Honda Accord in March under the concept of “All My Desire”. Its strong acceptance by customers has been demonstrated by Honda receiving orders for more than 10,000 units of the new Accord in less than three months.
According to Mr. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Executive Vice President, Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., “Our heartfelt appreciation goes to all Honda customers for their trust and being part of the Honda family. We remain committed to developing vehicles that leverage breakthrough technology with the highest quality and environmentally-friendly production; upgrading our service to deliver the highest levels of customer satisfaction; and stepping forward to create CSR activities that reinforce our mission to grow sustainably together with Thai society and be a company that society wants to exist. During the second half of 2013, we will launch a wide range of exciting activities to connect to our customers and express our gratitude to them.”
