LUCE Italian restaurant, located next to the infinity swimming pool at Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn Bangkok, is proud to present its new Italian chef — Mr. Edoardo Bonavolta.
Edoardo, a native of Livorno, Tuscany, started his career as an apprentice cook in his home province before opening his own wine bar. He was then selected to be Chef de Cuisine at the highly-rated Peccati di Gola restaurant where he honed his culinary skills, specializing in traditional Tuscan fare and seafood.
An urge to travel brought him to Thailand, where he has worked in well-regarded Italian eateries such as La Bottega di Luca in Bangkok. His previous position before joining Luce was as Chef de Cuisine at the renowned Bed Supper Club.
Taking his inspiration from Italian culinary luminaries such as Massimo Bottura and Gualtiero Marchesi, Edoardo says “I’m inspired by traditional food because to me it is the essence of the fascinating culture of the people who created it. I was drawn to this by observing my grandmother preparing the meals for our family when I was a small boy. However, the dishes I create are a combination of perfect simplicity with a hint of something innovative to please the palate. It’s a difficult task because, from a dining point of view, it seems as if everything has been done or tried already but I truly relish the challenge of presenting something surprising to delight our guests.”
LUCE Italian Restaurant at Eastin Grand Sathorn is the first LUCE to be opened in Asia, and the fourth in the world, after the original in Italy and two further ventures in Moscow and San Francisco, the latter being awarded a coveted Michelin star four years running. The concept for all Luce’s is simple yet effective; to offer discerning guests uncomplicated bespoke cuisine prepared and presented in a style that perfectly complements the fine wines on offer from the cellars of the originators of Luce, the Marchesi de Frescobaldi family in Tuscany. All Luce restaurants are inspected by the family themselves to ensure that the dishes on offer are a perfect pairing for their award-winning offerings.
