Dr. Pailin Chuchottaworn, President and Chief Executive Officer of PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) announced that at 00.34 hr. on August 14th, 2013 there was an accident incurring from the heavy thunder storm and lightning strike on the Waste Heat Recovery Unit or WHRU of the Gas Separation Plant Unit 5 (GSP#5), resulting in its cease of operation. PTT has mitigated the incident at full effort so that the LPG supply in all sectors including household, transportation and industry will not be affected.
From preliminary assessment, it will take around 3-5 months to resume the production of GSP#5. Furthermore, the cause of damage and the financial impact are being investigated.
