Bangkok--Dec 21--BAGOC
One day before the closing ceremony of the 13th Asian Games, the Bangkok Asian Games Organising Committee (BAGOC) has already seen their mailbox filled with compliments from the international delegations.
Chefs de Mission from some 41 participating countries today submitted their official messages congratulating BAGOC on its achievements. All of the comments will go into the historical records of Thammasat University and will be evidence of the university s hosting role in the Games.
The message of the Olympic Council of Brunei Darussalam seems to summarise the Asian Games which reads “Medals were won and medals were lost but what prevailed among the participants were the everlasting memories of spirited unity, brotherhood and fair play.”
Many messages emphasised the motto of the Games “Friendship Beyond Frontiers”, including that of the Olympic Council of Malaysia which stated “Our athletes will take back fond memories not only of having tried their best in their sports against their Asian brothers and sisters, but also of establishing or renewing friendship with other athletes in this region.”
The Olympic Council of Chinese Taipei s message confirmed that the 13th Asian Games are the largest and most successful Asian Games in the 47-year-long history.
The Lao P.D.R. delegation congratulated all concerned and wished Thailand a chance to host the Olympic Games in the future.
