Bangkok--20 Aug--Arc Worldwide Infused with sparkle and brilliance, the new “Secret Treasures” collection for Fall/Winter 2013/14 crosses the fabled Silk Road and takes inspiration from the landscapes through which it travels: China, the Himalayas, India, and Venice. Paying homage to the precious, traditional crafts used in making the silks, jewelry, and objects that stud this legendary journey like stars, Nathalie Colin drew her influences from her own travels and those of explorer Alexandra David-N?el. But above all, for the first time, the Creative Director wished to invite a famous jewelry designer to offer her own vision of the Swarovski universe. Leafing through the “Secret Treasures” travel itinerary, the talented Shourouk chose to reinterpret a stopover in India to create the line “Swarovski by Shourouk”. “I chose the designer Shourouk because her style is unique, innovative, feminine, rich, colorful, and opulent. These are precisely the strengths of the “Secret Treasures” collection, explains Nathalie Colin. “Furthermore, Shourouk has always worked with Swarovski crystals in her own line, so this is a perfect match. And her world, inspired by the jewelry of the Maharajas, fits perfectly with the spirit of our ‘Secret Treasures’ collection.” With her style that is both glamorous and baroque, her taste for the Oriental, and the Swarovski crystals that she has always used in her own creations, Shourouk dived delightedly into her universe of choice: “India is an infinite source of inspiration. It was fascinating to interpret the jewelry of Indian princes, rich in detail, color, and complexity, in a contemporary version,” says the designer. She designed a majestic necklace embroidered with crystals in black, gray, brown, and satin. Mounted on a wide, twisted silk cord, its exuberant dimensions, which maintain suppleness by subtly stacking crystal navettes, drops, brilliant cuts and more on Alcantara? patches, rest above the bust-line in the form of a bib necklace. A key piece in the collection, this necklace is accompanied by a brooch, drop earrings, and a large cuff in ruthenium-plated metal that draws on Shourouk’s attraction to vintage jewelry and her keen imagination. “We chose to work with colors such as Jet Hematite, clear crystal, and Silvernight Emerald to add a classic touch.” This jewelry is inspired by the vibrant colors of India, including Fuchsia Pink, appearing on a brooch, earrings, pendants, and bracelets adorned with stylized flowers in multicolored crystal. “This collection is a contemporary ‘stopover’ in India, a tribute to the splendor of the Maharajas, but transposed into jewelry that is current and very wearable.” A travel journal in which magic meets the unique expertise of Swarovski, where the traditions of far-off lands inspire the technical skill and the glamour of crystal specialists.
