Kromowidjojo added FINA Swimming World Cup champion to her growing list of achievements at swimming's short course showdown in her hometown of Eindhoven, sprinting to a world record of 23.24 in the finals and beating Dutch teammate Marleen Veldhuis' 23.25 mark from 2008. She also won the 100 freestyle title in Eindhoven, then backed up just days later to claim the 50 and 100 freestyle titles at the second meet of the series in Berlin. Hot on the heels of her FINA World Championships win in Barcelona last month in the long course version of the race, the Olympic gold medallist has now won all three major titles in the event. Thanyapura President Robert Hauck said Thanyapura Aquatics Academy had hosted stars from the Australian, British, China and Italian national teams in the lead up to the world championships and World Cup meetings and he was thrilled to see many of them amongst the medals. "It's terrific, we've been on the edge of our seats," Mr. Hauck said. "Ranomi's teammate Femke Heemskerk was first in the 200 freestyle and second behind Ranomi in the 100 freestyle in Berlin. Mitch Larkin of Australia was third in the 100m backstroke in Eindhoven and third in the 100 and 50 events in Berlin. Dutchman Sebastiaan Verschuren was third in the 200m freestyle. "The Australians won the Mixed 4x50m freestyle in Eindhoven, while the Dutch team was third in IM, so that race was like a Thanyapura roll call," he said. "And many of the swimmers who attended our clinics and tune ups were top 8 finalists." Thanyapura-trained swimmers also excelled at the FINA Paralympic World Championships, with the Netherlands' Teunissen Lisette the standout, winning the 50m backstroke and coming second in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley. 'With World Cup meets beginning again in October in Moscow before going to Dubai, Doha, Singapore, Tokyo and Beijing, we are sure to be seeing a revolving door of star names of swimming coming and going from Thanyapura," he said. "Thanyapura's world class facilities and three-dimensional coaching approach for the body, mind and soul is gaining currency at sports highest level in the quest to coax new levels of performance from world class athletes," he said. Ranomi Kromowidjojo, whose exotic name attests to her Dutch-Javanese-Surinamese heritage is a triple Olympic champion with gold medals in the 4X100m freestyle relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and in the 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle at the 2012 Olympics in London.
