Bangkok, Thailand — On Friday, 23 August to Saturday, 24 August, 100 representatives of civil society organizations from across Asia-Pacific will meet to make their assessment and recommendations to achieve a just and transformative development agenda. The Asia-Pacific Civil Society Consultation will provide a space for civil society to take stock of the ongoing process of crafting a new global development agenda that would have major implications on the lives of everyone on the planet as well as the environment. Civil society from Asia-Pacific from all sectors, types of organisations and countries will develop common messages and coordinate strategies for more effective participation in the post-2015 process.

Agreed messages will be shared with government representatives in the Asia-Pacific Ministerial dialogue: From the Millennium Development Goals to the United Nations Development Agenda beyond 2015 being organised by the Royal Government of Thailand and UN ESCAP on 26, 27 and 28 August. PARTICIPANTS: Representatives are from all types of organisations — grassroots and national NGO platforms and regional networks — and all types of sectors — women, farmers, indigenous peoples, environment, children and youth, migrants, HIV/AIDs and disabled among others.
