The Toursim Authority of Thailand (TAT) is gearing up towards promoting Medical Tourism in Thailand by inviting medical tourism facilitators from all over the world to join the Thailand Medical and Wellness Tourism Trade and Media FAM Trip 2013.
The FAM trip is set to showcase the market potential of Thailand's health and wellness services and to look for opportunities to tap into luxury Chinese markets. Organised by TAT, 30 medical facilitators and travel agencies from 10 countries will meet in Bangkok for this large-scale event.
Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni, TAT Governor , said “This is the 2nd year that TAT has organised such an event, drawing on the huge success of last year’s trip. This year, TAT will be more focused by inviting medical tourism facilitators from particular targeted markets; such as, the US, Australia, Russia, United Arab Emirates, and Oman”.
Furthermore, this year TAT will also tap new potential high-end markets from mainland China by organising high-end luxury health tour programmes and inviting Chinese buyers to participate.
The TAT Governor noted that, “The FAM Trip aims to promote luxury wellness & beauty products which match the profile and behaviour of high-end medical tourists from China. We believe that by the end of this trip, buyers from China will see the potential of our medical tourism, which is special and unlike anywhere else, with its Thai charm and uniqueness that has impressed visitors from all over the world.”
Furthermore, ''currently, 28 Thai hospitals are JCI- accredited, the highest number of this prestigious international standard in Asia. Furthermore, Thailand is widely recognised by various international institutes as the spa capital of Asia.”
Mrs. Vilaiwan Twichasri, Deputy Governor for Tourism Business and Products, stated that TAT has organised a conference and invited well-known physicians to open discussions, including Dr. Sanguan Kunaporn, a famous plastic surgeon from Phuket International Hospital; Dr.Somjate Manipalviratn, M.D., a well-known fertility treatment expert from Superior A.R.T.; and Dr. Buncha Dangnium, M.D., a famous anti-aging physician from Villa Medica.
Another activity of the event is a business-matching meeting open to 58 Thai sellers from hospitals, clinics, and spas to meet with buyers for business opportunities, discussions, and to introduce their products and services.
After the trade conference, a Media FAM trip is scheduled to three famous Medical Tourism destinations: Bangkok, Phuket, and Hua Hin. The FAM trip will showcase the ability, expertise, and readiness of health care and wellness services in Thailand.
The TAT Governor concluded that this trade event will create an excellent opportunity for Thai medical providers to meet their international counterparts and expand the market into countries like China and Russia. In addition, this event also emphasizes Thailand’s reputation — in the eyes of worldwide tourism facilitators — as “The World Leader in Medical and Wellness Tourism.”
?TAT strongly believes that the Thai health tourism sector will help generate a significant portion of the total expected national revenue in 2014 of 2 trillion Baht.
