Bulgaria holds quite a special place in the European history of wine. Most ancient authors after Homer believed that the cult of the merry god of wine Dionysus originated in ancient Thrace from where it eventually spread throughout the Hellenistic world — an assumption that must have remained unchallenged for a long time (around a thousand years), considering that Pliny the Elder (first century AD) claimed that the first vine-grower in Europe was the Thracian Eumolpus.
Don’t miss the chance to taste some of the best European regional wines in the company of professional sommeliers from Bulgaria, leading wine makers and representatives of the Regional Vine and Wine Chamber “TRAKIA”. Experience the Thracian spirit through the magical performance of a Bulgarian folklore ensemble.
Learn more about the exquisite qualities of the European regional wines, the production techniques, the peculiarities of the regional wine sorts, the origins of wine making the Thracian region, dating back to the First century AD.
