THAI Clarification on Flight TG600 from Bangkok-Hong Kong

Bangkok--30 Aug--Thai Airways Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) provided clarification on flight TG600 that departed on 30 August 2013 from Bangkok to Hong Kong, which experienced turbulence upon descent at Chek Lap Kok Airport, Hong Kong. Mr. Chokchai Panyayong, Senior Executive Vice President, Commercial Department, and Acting President, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), said that flight TG600, operating with the Airbus A380-800 aircraft, departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport at 08.16 hours (local time) on 30 August 2013 to Hong Kong, and carrying 500 passengers, two pilots, and 24 cabin attendants. As the aircraft was descending to Chek Lap Kok Airport, Hong Kong, an unforeseen turbulence occurred, causing injury to 20 passengers and cabin attendants, according to initial reports. Thereafter, despite the turbulence, the pilots safely landed the aircraft, with the THAI’s ground customer services staff at Chek Lap Kok Airport and Hong Kong International Airport Authority staff immediately transporting the injured to hospital. All other passengers proceeded through the passenger terminal arrivals hall at Chek Lap Kok Airport according to normal arrival procedures and formalities. THAI regrets this unforeseen weather occurrence and will tend to medical expenses of all passengers and staff who were injured. Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Minister of Transport, also expressed concern and emphasized that THAI take care of those injured.
