As the Official Carrier for the Thailand Open 2013, FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) is gearing up for an exceptional tournament bolstered by the presence of Andy Murray, the 2013 Wimbledon champion and 2012 Olympic tennis men’s singles champion.
The Thailand Open 2013, which will be held at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani September 21-29, continues FedEx global Platinum Sponsor support of the ATP World Tour. This year, FedEx sponsorship, which began in 2011, encompasses 22 ATP World Tour Tournaments in 14 countries.
Noted for attracting some of the game’s top and rising stars, Thailand Open fans can look forward to seeing a host of world-class players, including Thomas Berdych (World #5), Richard Gasquet (World #9), Milos Raonic (World #11) and Mikhail Youzhny (World #24) at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.
FedEx will add to the excitement by running programs for fans and customers at the tournament. Throughout the week, the FedEx on-site activation booth will be a hive of activity serving as both a registration area for VIP guests and for events such as autograph sessions with star players.
“FedEx is proud and delighted to support the Thailand Open 2013. From the first serve, to the last, the tournament promises to be one of the most exciting sporting events of the year and we look forward to welcoming fans and customers at the FedEx activation booth,” said David Carden, managing director, FedEx Express Thailand and Indochina.
The FedEx booth will also feature an interactive “hotshot challenge” game, and an eye-catching tennis-themed backdrop wall for fans who want to pose, shoot, and post photos to social media sites.
First held in 2003, the Thailand Open is one of two ATP World Tour Events held in Southeast Asia. A number of past and present top-10 players have won the Bangkok title, including Roger Federer, James Blake, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Giles Simon, Andy Murray, and most recently, Richard Gasquet.
