The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), together with public and private sector units, has organized The Diamond Crown in Economics contest: Nern Tong Kong-Mee Ka and Sufficiency Economic Philosophy for university students for the first time this year, with Econ101 team from Chulalongkorn University being the gold medal winner.
SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira said: “After successfully holding the contest at the high and primary school levels for four years in a row, the contest attracted 10,193 students in teams representing 3,086 schools nationwide. These great numbers proved that youth are increasingly becoming interested in economics and finance. Thus, we cooperated with Chulalongkorn University’s Economic Faculty to arrange the contest with more than 200 university students, or 70 teams from 22 universities across the country, competing,”
“The competition is a key opportunity for SET to help develop the economics expertise of tomorrow’s leaders. As the youth learn the theory and implementation of economics in their daily lives, they will learn how to more effectively utilize and allocate key resources and help the sustainable economic development of the country.”
The winners were: Econ101 team from Chulalongkorn University; consisting of Krantarat Krongsiriwat, Chatra Kamsaeng, and Pullawat Pitigraisorn. The gold medalist also received a scholarship worth THB30,000; a certificate, plaque, and instruction media from SET, while the winners’ universities received texts from Books for Thailand Foundation. This year’s competition was also sponsored by The Capital Market Development Fund Foundation; CPF Trading Co., Ltd.; The Crown Property Bureau, National Office of Buddhism, Nongpho Dairy Co-operative Ltd., Office of the Basic Education Commission, Romchatra Foundation, Satree Wittaya School II, the Treasury Department, and Thai Life Assurance Association.
