- BASF Technology Day 2013 - Exhibition demonstrates how chemistry helps to balance economic, environmental and social needs
- Partnering with customers from Thailand’s key industries
BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, is showcasing its innovations at the BASF Technology Day from September 19 to 20 in Bangkok. More than 1,000 invited guests including key players from Thailand’s fastest-growing industries as well as other key stakeholders witnessed how BASF lives its corporate purpose, “We create chemistry for a sustainable future”, in Thailand.
“Growing demand is putting an increasing strain on our planet. We already consume more than the Earth can regenerate. Sustainability is therefore crucial for our future — not only for BASF but for the world population,” says Mr. Boonchai Opas-iam-likit; Chairman and Managing Director of BASF Group in Thailand.
BASF Technology Day also featured an exhibition which presents the latest sustainability-driven technologies and cutting-edge solutions from BASF for key industries such as automotive, food & agriculture, construction, consumer, packaging, paint & coatings and renewable energy. The event also included a forum where flagship companies will share their views on success, challenges, and the path forward in their sustainability approach, as well as a talk by BASF executives on opportunities in science and technology.
Partnering with customers and society
As awareness of sustainability is also increasing, BASF wants to focus its business even more strongly on customers’ needs with solutions that help meet their sustainability challenges.
“At BASF we understand sustainability as balancing the needs of economy, environment, and society. We make this journey in close cooperation with our customers and their respective industries,” continued Mr. Opas-iam-likit. BASF and its customer Charoen Pokphand Food Public Company Limited (CPF) recently announced that CPF is the world’s first chicken producer with a certified continuous sustainability optimization program. CPF received the ProSustain Standard certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an independent certification body, through BASF’s SET project. The ProSustain Certification is a proof of CPF's commitment to sustainability by addressing stakeholder concerns such as social, environmental, economic impact as well as transparency.
