ICT MINISTRY, NBTC, TCEB: THAILAND READY TO HOST ITU TELECOM WORLD 2013

Bangkok--30 Sep--Ogilvy Public Relations Three leading organizations announced good progress of preparation for the country to play the host and welcome 20,000 worldwide delegates attending ITU Telecom World 2013, the world-class exhibition of information and communication technology innovations. Thailand has been given this opportunity to host ITU Telecom World 2013 for the first time at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok, from November 19-22, 2013. Group Captain Anudith Nakornthap, ICT Minister, noted that ITU Telecom World is a world-class forum, networking and showcasing platform for the latest information and communication technology, innovations and advanced technology, from the most renowned organizations of various countries around the globe. “The organizing committee, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Information and Communication Industry, the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), have worked closely with all concerned organizations in preparing for the events, including facilitation and arrangements related to transport, procedures, accommodations, security, etc. As everything is progressing well, we strongly believe that Thailand is ready. Our role in hosting this remarkable event will also enhance the country’s image among the global communities. At the same time, it will strengthen confidence in Thailand and our potential to be a development center for information and communication technology in Southeast Asia.” The theme for this year event is “Embracing Change in a Digital World”, focussing on the impact of major changes in the ICT sector in the areas of communication and business models, industry value chains, new technologies, and new regulatory and standardization approaches. Five key topics to be discussed at the ITU Telecom World 2013 are Changes in the way we communicate with each other, Changing business models, Changing industry dynamics, Changes in technology, Changes in standardization and regulatory regimes. ITU Telecom World 2013 will be held from 19-21 November 2013 at IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani. It covers a wide range of events, from forum to debates and keynote speeches by top-level international delegates from the public and private sectors across the entire Information & Communication Technology (ICT) ecosystem. In addition, there will be an exhibition on ICT innovations and other networking activities allowing delegates to get together, sharing knowledge, information and experience as well as discussing business future opportunities that will further drive the world’s ICT industry. Another crucial part at the event is the Young Innovators Competition 2013 that opens opportunities for “social technopreneur” to demonstrate their talent and creativity in ICT solutions. The 10 finalists, recruited from over 600 applicants from 88 countries, will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, make presentation and meet with industry leaders. The winners would have the opportunity to win the 10,000 dollar prize.
