MasterCard formally announced the appointment of Antonio Corro as country manager of Thailand and Myanmar. Based in Bangkok, Corro will focus on driving the country’s expansion strategy for Thailand and Myanmar. Corro will also continue to lead MasterCard’s growth in Myanmar by leveraging opportunities in both the retail and tourism sectors through Myanmar’s close links with Thailand.
Prior to this, Corro was country manager of the IndoChina region overseeing Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. In Myanmar, he played a key role in MasterCard becoming the first international payments network to grant a license to a Myanmar bank, paving the way for the very first international card acceptance in the country. Taking over the role of country manager of IndoChina is Arn Vogels, who has moved to from MasterCard Europe where he held senior account management roles and was responsible for managing relationships with several global banks with Asian operations.
Corro takes over from Gregg Hirano, who throughout his tenure as country manager, played a key role in expanding MasterCard’s presence in the Thailand market.
Corro has been with MasterCard since 2001.
