The SEC and the Agricultural Futures Trading Commission (AFTC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in exchange of information on the derivatives businesses development and supervision.
The MoU aims at promoting cooperation on development of derivatives businesses, exchange of information on derivatives business operators, trading systems and research papers, sharing expertise and enforcement collaboration. The cooperation will not contravene public interest and will be in accordance with laws and regulations under the supervision of each organization.
Vorapol Socatiyanurak, SEC Secretary-General said that “The SEC is pleased to establish closer cooperation with the AFTC. We trust that the MoU signing will lead to development and collaboration to achieve more efficient supervision on derivative businesses, especially in the areas of relevant transactions and industries which will be beneficial to investors and development of Thai economy.”
Wanchai Palotaitakerng, AFTC Secretary-General said that “The AFTC and SEC have, in fact, been in collaboration for several aspects. The official MoU signing today confirms the two authorities’ determination and unity to promote and regulate derivatives businesses in Thailand. The collaboration also assures stakeholder confidence in both local and international levels and thus sends positive sentiment to Thai derivatives market.”
