Bangkok--15 Oct--Thai Airways
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announced that the Company will upgrade its reservation and ticketing system from Saturday, 12 October 2013 1630 hours Bangkok time (0930 hours GMT) until Sunday, 13 October 2013 0500 hours Bangkok time (Saturday, 12 October 2200 hours GMT), for improved customer handling. During the upgrade and platform changeover, there will be a temporarily suspension of THAI reservation and ticketing services and Royal Orchid Plus redemption services.
Mr. Chokchai Panyayong, THAI Senior Executive Vice President of Commercial, said that THAI will change the current reservation, inventory control and ticketing system to the Amadeus Alt?a platform as THAI places great importance on the implementation of this new platform to serve customers faster and more conveniently through faster transaction time, accuracy and synchronized information link.
The Amadeus Alt?a platform, used by most of the Star Alliance carriers as well as other major airlines, consists of four core components such as reservation, ticketing, inventory control, and departure control. The platform was design to allow these four core components to be able to share passenger travel information and requirements which improve processing time and improve other customer services at each point of travel on THAI. The Amadeus Alt?a platform can also be further developed and expanded on an ongoing basis for additional service features that can improve the Company’s competitiveness, as well as joint IT development with other alliance carriers.
During this period, THAI’s reservation and ticketing services will be temporarily unavailable, including Royal Orchid Plus redemption services as the upgrade will require synchronization of customer information. However, passenger check-in at the airport, mobile and internet check-in services during this period remain available.
THAI ticket offices in Thailand will close from 1500 hours (local time) on Saturday, 12 October 2013 and return to normal operational hours the following day.
THAI apologizes in advance for any inconvenience customers may experience and recommends that customers make their reservations or issue tickets before the stated upgrade period. For more information, please call the THAI Contact Center at Tel. 02-356-1111 or visit www.thaiairways.com.
