ข่าวทั่วไป Friday February 26, 1999 11:21 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--Feb 26--Delphi Automotive Systems Delphi Automotive Systems — a world leader in automotive component and systems technology — has introduced a new generation of ABS called DBC 7 Anti-Lock Braking System for the 1999 model year offering key performance features and benefits such as reduced stopping distances, enhanced steerability, and improved vehicle stability. Building on years of ABS-VI Anti-Lock Braking System development and production experience, the Delphi Brake Control DBC 7 system is of high quality and reliability. Jointly developed by Delphi Chassis, Delphi Delco Electronics, and Delphi Energy & Engine Management, the system combines precision solenoid valves, closed hydraulic pump recirculation and fully integrated state-of-the-art electronics. Hidden within Delphi’s new DBC 7 is its intellectual software which, combined with high quality components, makes it the smartest ABS system currently available. In addition to reduced stopping distances, enhanced steerability, improved vehicle stability and elimination of wheel lock, DBC 7’s precision pump and solenoids provide quiet, predictable actuation. Integrated electronic controls have improved packaging flexibility and system reliability. The small size and reduced mass help improve fuel economy and minimise underhood space requirements. DBC 7 is readily upgradeable to accommodate traction control, dynamic rear proportioning and other advanced features such as pressure-augmented boost and the TraXXarิ Vehicle Stability Enhancement System. Additionally, DBC 7 control technology can be used to integrate vehicle chassis or drive train functions such as tire inflation monitoring, variable-effort steering and electronic throttle control. DBC 7 is available for standard and luxury passenger cars, as well as light trucks and sport utility vehicles. In 1997, Delphi set up a representative office in Bangkok to build a network of support for the country’s auto industry. The company’s other investments in Southeast Asia are wholly-owned manufacturing facilities in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE: DPH), with headquarters in Troy, Mich., USA, is a world leader in automotive component and systems technology. Delphi’s three business sectors -- Dynamics and Propulsion; Safety, Thermal and Electrical Architecture; and Electronics and Mobile Communications -- provide comprehensive product solutions to complex customer needs. Delphi has more than 200,000 employees and operates 169 wholly owned manufacturing sites, 40 joint ventures and 27 technical centers in 36 countries. Regional headquarters are located in Paris, Tokyo and Sใo Paulo. With an initial public offering (IPO) of 100 million shares priced at US$ 17 per share, Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE: DPH) on February 5, 1999, moved a significant step closer to independence from long-time parent General Motors. Until the IPO, Delphi was a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation, which continues to hold 465 million shares. While General Motors continues to hold over 80% of the remaining stock in Delphi, GM has said it intends to distribute the remaining shares to GM shareholders later this year in either a split-off or spin-off, or some combination of both. The IPO raised US$ 1.7 billion, making it the sixth largest US IPO ever.
