The MakroHoReCa 2013 under“Furthering the Business to Welcome ASEAN Partners” Theme
Makro reaffirms its commitment to support Thai food entrepreneurs and gets ready to welcome the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)at “The MakroHoReCa 2013”held under the theme “Furthering the Business to Welcome ASEAN Partners” aims toprepare restaurant, hotel, and catering entrepreneurs for the upcoming integration by creating sustainable businesses. This event is expected to attract more than 50,000 people, including entrepreneurs and the general public.
Suchada Ithijarukul,Chief Executive Officer, Siam Makro Public Company Limited states that, “Makro is a membership based cash & carry that offers a complete selection of consumer products. The business has lasted for over 24 years and has gained the trust of traders all over the country, with over 2.5 million registered members, including restaurants, hotels,grocery shops, retail stores, and various organizations and institutes. Throughout its years in business, Makro has always given importance to supportingentrepreneurs, members and non-members, with various activities that aim to make businesses more competitive and sustainable.”
One of the main activities is the MakroHoReCathat was first organized in 2005 with the aim to inform and inspire restaurant, hotel, and catering or HoReCaentrepreneurs to become more competitive and develop sustainable businesses. In addition, it is an opportunity for Makro suppliersto promote their products and services and to network withbusiness allies.
Siriporn Dechsingha, MakroHoReCa2013 Committee Chairman,states that, “In 2013, Makro has decided to organize MakroHoReCa under the theme “Furthering the Business to Welcome ASEAN Partners” because we believe it is important for Makro members and Thai resort and restaurant entrepreneurs to develop their business skills and prepare for the ASEAN alliance or AEC in 2015. This will be a time of increasing competition and new business opportunities, therefore, the festival will include activities that willhelp develop unique ways of thinking that can be used in business competition, for example:
- Seminars on these topics: “Views and Effects of AEC on Thai Restaurants” and “Opportunities of Food BusinessesUnder ASEAN Alliance”
- Experience-sharing among professional chefs and celebrities with success in the food business, including ChakritYamnam, TakNapatsarun, PokPiyathida, Karp SuthipongSuriya, Job NithiSamuthorn, KojornNawatIssarakraisin, PonThansathien, and Chef FarngNaatapongNhachuwet.
- “Yummy Crepes to Welcome AEC” workshop, “Techniques for Cocktails/ AEC Signature Drink” workshop, and “Keep Updated on AEC with Great Dishes” workshop.
- Booths selling more than 300 selections of food products and kitchen tools under special prices.
- “MAKRO HoReCa Challenge 2013” a cooking competition with the best chefs from across the country competing for theHRH PrincessSoamsawalitrophy, total prizes
- worthup to 1 million baht, and the honor to become Thailand’s representative on the internalstage of "Food&Hotel Asia 2014 (FHA)" in Singapore.
