3Q13 Results of Asia Aviation Plc. (AAV) Showed Continual Strong Growth with Revenue Baht 5,595 million Net Profit (Owners of the Parent) Baht 158 million Growing 59% Year-on-Year
Asia Aviation Plc. (AAV) reported its 3Q13 results based on the performance of Thai AirAsia Ltd. (TAA) from passengers growth and fleet expansion. TAA achieved Baht 5,595 million in revenue for this quarter (up 26% from the same period last year) and Baht 297 million in net profit, notably up 59% compared to the same period last year. Load Factor in the quarter was 83% (up 1%) with a total of 2.6 million passengers, 30% increased from last year as compared with capacity growth of 27%.
Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Asia Aviation Plc. and Thai AirAsia, the leading low-cost carrier, stated that in 3Q13 AAV achieved Baht 5,595 million in revenue, an increase of 26% year-on-year and Baht 158 million in net profit (owners of the parent), an increase of 59% compared to the same period last year.
In 3Q13, Thai AirAsia increased the flight frequencies by taking additional 2 new Airbus A320 aircraft from the previous quarter (adding 6 aircraft from the same quarter last year), bringing a total fleet of 31 as at quarter-end. Thai AirAsia was also able to reach a 94% on-time-performance at Don Mueang Airport through continual effective planning and operational management.
For the 9M13, TAA had revenue of Baht 16,984 million, up 24% from the same period last year, and net profit of Baht 1,535 million, an increase of 70% year-on-year. The airline’s load factor for the nine-month of this year was 84%, up 2%, with 7.5 million passengers or 25% higher than the same period last year. Consequently, AAV had revenue of Baht 16,984 million and net profit (owners of the parent) of Baht 820 million.
For 4Q13, Thai AirAsia is scheduled to receive 4 new Airbus A320 aircraft, reaching a total of 35 aircraft for this year’s target. The airline will add routes to popular and burgeoning destinations in the domestic, Chinese and Indochina markets with direct flights from Don Mueang Airport to Siem Reap (started 1 Oct), Khon Kaen (started 28 Oct), Kunming (starts 15 Nov), Nay Pyi Taw (starts 28 Nov) and Phitsanulok (starts 30 Nov).
Thai AirAsia is also launching the new “Fly Thru” service, allowing connections to be made at Don Mueang Airport. This service, which will enhance convenience and draw new group of travelers, will start from 1 December 2013 onwards.
