68 senior year students recently learned valuable job-seeking skills from experienced professionals at the 2013 FedEx Career Camp in Bangkok.
Organized by FedEx and AMCHAM, the career camp was held in Bangkok from October 27 — 30.
Over the course of three days, students participated in several activities including career and development seminars, resume writing workshops, company site visits, a career night panel discussion and mock job interviews conducted by HR professionals.
“By teaching job seeking skills in realistic business situations, the FedEx Career Camp enables students to make a smoother transition from college to the real business world,” said David Carden, Managing Director, FedEx Express Thailand and Indochina.
“In addition, students had the unique opportunity to meet executives working for leading U.S. companies based in Thailand. The common message was that with the right skills, and an entrepreneurial mind-set, they can look forward to exciting career paths as regional integration and cooperation increases in the future.”
Like previous camps, students embraced the chance to learn from experienced professionals.
Supanee Noojaroen, a student at Thaksin University in Songkhla said, “Coming from the south to Bangkok, and having the chance to meet top executives opened my eyes to new opportunities. The experience was very rewarding, even the challenging test interviews.”
Satit Yousatit who studies at Bangkok’s Silpakorn University said, “The FedEx Career Camp highlighted what we need to do to move from campus life to workplace life. I learned a lot, especially how to write a resume and prepare for an interview. And as I want to be an engineer, I really appreciated the chance to speak with engineering professionals.”
The 2013 camp was the third annual program organized jointly by FedEx and AMCHAM. The 68 participating students were selected from 22 universities nationwide.
