Bangkok--20 Jan--Toyota Motor Mr. Kyoichi Tanada, President of Toyota Motor Thailand, announced the car sales performance of 2013 and the trend of the automotive industry in 2014 at 2014 Toyota Annual Press Conference held on January 20th, 2014 at Ballroom, The Okura Prestige Hotel, Bangkok. Mr. Tanada said “2013 Thailand’s automotive sales reached 1,330,668 units. Toyota’s domestic sales is at 445,464 units. Looking back into the auto sales in 2012 and 2013, it has stepped into the threshold of Thailand auto market transformation that the annual sales exceed over one million units as a result of rising demand in the market and the launch of new entries by several carmakers.” Car Sales in 2013 Sales in 2013 Difference Compared to 2012 Total Car Sales 1,330,668 units -7.4% Passenger Cars 631,221 units -6.1% Commercial Vehicles 699,447 units -8.4% 1-ton Pickups(including PPV) 588,115 units -11.7% Pure Pickups 528,864 units -10.8% For Toyota sales performance, we sold 445,464 units, a 13.7% decrease. Passenger car sales totaled at 190,101 units, a decrease by 15.4%. Commercial vehicles also saw a 12.3% decrease in sales totaling at 255,363 units and so did 1-ton pickups (including PPV) which are a part of the commercial vehicles with its sales at 236,751 units, or a 12.2% decrease. Toyota Sales in 2013 - Toyota Car Sales 445,464 units 13.7% decrease 33.5% market share - Passenger Cars 190,101 units 15.4% decrease 30.1% market share - Commercial Vehicles 255,363 units 12.3% decrease 36.5% market share - 1-ton Pickups (including PPV) 236,751 units 12.2% decrease 40.3% market share - Pure Pickups 206,936 units 11.3% decrease 39.1% market share Toyota’s CBU export sales for 2013 increased to 430,929 units, a 6.0% rise valued at 188,445 million baht. OEM part export sales totaled at 63,008 million baht. The value of these exports has been contributed to the national income at 251,453 million baht.” For the trend of the automotive industry in 2014 Mr. Tanada stated “Thus the market projection for 2014 would be 1,150,000 sales, down 13.6% year-on-year.” Forecast Car Sales in 2014 - Total Car Sales 1,150,000 units 13.6% decrease - Passenger Cars 527,000 units 16.5% decrease - Commercial Vehicles 623,000 units 10.9% decrease - 1-ton Pickups (including PPV) 521,000 units 11.4% decrease - Pure Pickups 473,000 units 10.6% decrease Toyota’s domestic sales target for 2014 is expected to 400,000 units, comprising 184,000 passenger cars or 3.2% decrease. Fall by 15.4% or 216,000 units are commercial vehicles in which 199,000 units or 15.9% decrease is of 1-ton pickups that are a part of the commercial vehicle sales.” Forecast Toyota Sales in 2014 - Total Car Sales 400,000 units down 10.2% 34.8% market share - Passenger Cars 184,000 units down 3.2% 34.9% market share - Commercial Vehicles 216,000 units down 15.4% 34.7% market share - 1-ton Pickups (including PPV) 199,000 units down 15.9% 38.2 % market share - Pure Pickups 176,000 units down 14.9% 37.2% market share “We project to export CBU around 445,000 units, equivalent to 198,000 million baht, and OEM part export valued at 65,600 million baht, the total numbers of export value is estimated to 263,600 million baht.” Mr. Tanada added “This year, we are ready in all aspects. Besides, our marketing strategy is growing the trend of leveraging customers’ lifestyles with emphasis on sports and music marketing. We target to access customers more to boost Commercial Vehicle market and to offer greater convenience for our target customers with proactive marketing activities. In addition, to promote customer confidence and enhance services.
