AAV Announces 2013 Results with Baht 23,485 million in Revenue and Baht 1,043 million in Net Profit (Owners of the Parent)

Bangkok--27 Feb--Asia Aviation AAV Announces 2013 Results with Baht 23,485 million in Revenue and Baht 1,043 million in Net Profit (Owners of the Parent) going beyond its target for passengers served at 10.5 million and entering into 2014 with confidence in growth to be spurred by expansion into markets beyond Bangkok and connections into China Asia Aviation Plc. (AAV) reported its 2013 results based on the performance of Thai AirAsia Ltd. (TAA). TAA achieved Baht 23,485 million in revenue for this year (up 21% from the same period last year) and Baht 1,948 million in net profit. The airline achieved a load factor of 83%, up 1 percentage point after serving over 10.5 million people, or 26% more than the previous year. Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Asia Aviation Plc. and Thai AirAsia, the leading low-cost carrier, remarked that AAV’s results, in spite of political turbulence during the end of the year, still saw satisfactory growth with total revenue of Baht 23,485 million and net profit attributable to parent (excluding gain on fair value) Baht 1,043 million, increased by 25% comparing to the same period last year due to Thai AirAsia’s expansion. “Thai AirAsia continued to operate according to plan during the past year. It acquired another 8 aircraft for its fleet, bringing the total to 35 by year’s end and increased flight frequencies on popular routes as well as opened a total of 6 new routes, which included; Don Mueang to Khon Kaen, Phitsanulok, Siem Reap (Cambodia) and Kunming (China) and Krabi to Singapore as well as Chiang Mai to Krabi. During the latter half of the year the airline also added new opportunities for service with the City Transfer to Pai (for flights landing in Chiang Mai) and Sukhothai (for flights landing in Phitsanulok) as well as Fly Thru service at Don Mueang Airport, which helped to attract foreign travelers looking to go beyond Bangkok” Mr. Tassapon noted. In 2013, Thai AirAsia also focused on the domestic market with an aim to strengthen its brand by exuding an image of approachability and fun. The development was to prepare the airline for a range of competition. Ultimately, the airline achieved a domestic passenger service number of 6.4 million people, reaffirming its leadership in the low-cost carrier market. For the entire year, the airline served 10.5 million people, exceeding its target. For 2014, Mr. Tassapon has assessed that AAV will continue to grow by acquiring 8 more aircraft for its fleet and working on its goals of increasing flight frequencies and opening more routes beyond Bangkok, including to the provinces and China, where Thai AirAsia is unrivaled. The company’s service target for 2014 is 13.3 million people or 27% more than the previous year.
