Bangkok--27 Feb--Siam Commercial Bank Siam Commercial Bank on Thursday held an “SCB Investment Symposium 2014: Change Ahead” seminar on the topic of “Open Perspectives to Surmount Change for Successful Investment”. The aim of the seminar was to provide investors with knowledge and understanding to ensure they are in a position to deal with fluctuations in the Thai and global economies in a timely manner. Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) Deputy Director-General Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations (FETCO) Chairman Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn, and Sena Development PCL Executive Director Associated Professor Dr. Kesara Thanyalakpak honored the Bank by delivering keynote speeches on their perspectives for Thailand's economic outlook in 2014 and investment approaches in the midst of fluctuations to enable investors to make proper investment plans that will steadily enhance their wealth. SCB First Executive Vice President and Head of the Wealth Division Smith Banomyong said a number of incidents recently had become hot issues impacting Thailand's overall economy. The persistent political confrontations have dampened local consumption and delayed state budget disbursement and investment in basic infrastructure projects. External risk factors that should be closely monitored include global economic fluctuations in the wake of the decision by the United States Federal Reserve to taper quantitative easing (QE) due to the continued recovery of the US economy. This move led to a fluctuation in asset prices in both financial and capital markets and baht volatility. However, Thailand's exports are seen picking up as a result of global economic recovery, particularly that of countries in the Group of Three (the US, Europe, and Japan). Being aware of the economic fluctuations, he said, SCB saw the need to provide its clients and individual investors with knowledge and understanding to ensure they are in a position to cope with the current situation. The “SCB Investment Symposium 2014: Change Ahead” seminar with a theme of “Open Perspectives to Surmount Change for Successful Investment“ was held to enable investors to make plans to manage their own investment portfolios efficiently and in a timely manner amidst economic volatility. The seminar drew a good response from many clients and interested persons. Economic and investment gurus were invited to deliver keynote speeches and provide participants with in-depth knowledge and perspectives on investment. Among those participating were FPO Deputy Director-General Dr. Ekniti, who delivered a lecture on “How to Adjust to Global Changes,” FETCO Chairman Paiboon who provided his perspective on “The Thai Economy in Preparation of Change,” and Sena Development Executive Director Associated Professor Dr. Kesara, who shared his secret “The Way to Business Sucess.” “We eagerly hope participants in this seminar received useful information that will enable them to establish a personal investment portfolio management strategy amidst internal and external fluctuations. We place importance on our financial and investment advisory role. Our expert teams focus on asset allocation in all major investment segments to provide risk diversification acceptable to our clients. This is key to helping steadily enhance their wealth from investment,” said Mr. Smith.
