Bangkok--4 Mar--World Vision Foundation of Thailand
Ms Kayoon Boonsanong, Director of the General Education Unit, Office of the Private Education Commission and Mrs Chitra Thumborisuth, National Director of World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) presided over ‘The Heart of Giving’ event on 21 February, 2014 at Hip Bangkok Hotel. They handed out plaques and certificates to the representatives from 68 schools in recognition of their participation in WVFT’s The Heart of Giving project throughout the 2013 academic year.
Participating schools asked their students to save for two months; savings were then donated to WVFT programmes. A portion of the students’ donation will be used to sponsor 249 children and improve the livelihood of their families and communities through WVFT’s Child Sponsorship programme. The remaining donations were allocated to ‘Breakfast for Kids’ project, providing 14,493 morning meals to young children in 8 districts and 7 provinces in the north and north eastern regions of Thailand.
The Heart of Giving project was first established 6 years ago with the goal of helping impoverished children. The project has been a great success thanks to the participating teachers and students who share the same aspiration for children to acquire better well-being.
Ms Kayoon said, “I’d like to praise everyone for having good morality. You are building a strong foundation for disadvantaged children so that they will grow up well and do good deeds for society. Thank you WVFT for creating such a great project.”
Mrs Chitra adds, “Thank you all the schools for your participation in The Heart of Giving project. In encouraging children to save on a daily basis, you’re helping them to appreciate the value of sharing as they grow up.”
