SACICT organizes the International Innovative Craft Fair 2014 (IICF 2014) showing the Thai creative design handicraft to the global stage during March 27-30, 2014.
The fair by SACICT boosts happiness to people with the crafts and also generates income to entrepreneurs. Visitors can enjoy the exhibition where excellent and extraordinary crafts to be presented. People can also appreciate with the handicraft demonstration and learn with doing it by themselves. A wide range of contemporary arts are available for shopping at the fair. In addition, the latest event “SACICT’s Craft Trend” will be introduced as the collection of trendy handicraft to better serve the target group and market. The event will be held during March 27-30, 2014 at Hall EH 103-104 at BITEC.

Mrs. Pimpaphaan Charnsilpa, CEO of The SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand remarks that the International Innovative Craft Fair 2014 (IICF 2014) is the stage where SACICT keeps on strengthening the Thai handicraft to the international by focusing on training the craftsmanship skills and capability, developing the trading market, and integrating the international craft market. This is the platform for the talents and creative people in the craft design, transferring the knowledge base in materials to connect with the international handicraft network. The fair also promotes the art pieces of the maestro and production method of the handicraft.
Activities and interests at the IICF 2014
There are four exhibitions including 1. “Innovative Craft Award 2014”, the competition of creative handicraft under the concept Contemporary Thai craft, simplicity with value. 2. “SACICT Prototype Product Design Gallery 2014” which is the prototype product development that aims to have the community members of SACICT to work together with professional designers in developing the modern craft products with more value-added. At the exhibition, there will be also the display of the prototype products called “Very Thai” from Maison et Objet 2013 of France and the “Global Ethnics” which is the contemporary crafts development of the ethnic groups. 3. The “New Heritage exhibition” that aims to inherit and conserve the Thai handicraft. There are the pieces made by the new generations who evolve the crafts based on the mixture of conservative and temporary style. 4. SACICT’s Craft Trend which is the latest project of SACICT that has researched the trend of knowledge of design and innovative directions, aesthetic direction, materials and technique aspects, which all have been done in the SACICT Trend Book. There are also SACICT Trend Talk and SACICT Trend Gallery.
Visitors can shop for contemporary art, the handicraft products offered by over 280 local and international shops. There are three major product groups including Innovative Craft, Green Craft, and Young Designer. In addition, there are the product groups of Indy Craft and member shops from partnership network such as the Design and Objects Association, Thailand Interior Designers’ Association, etc. There is also a space called “University Street” which serves for university students.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of craft activities where hands-on experiences are available. There are eight activities including palm weaving, Thai kite making, Origami -Japanese traditional paper art and folding, umbrella painting, Chinese paper cutting, woven palm fish making, art from recycled paper, coral and flower candle making.
