Macao’s Largest Wine Festival Kicks Off at The Venetian Macao

Bangkok--21 Mar--jigsaw-communications Iconic integrated resort’s outdoor lagoon home to over 30 booths of food and wine, entertainment and wine courses March 20-23 Following last year’s success, the Wine Society of Macau brought the second edition of the highly successful Wine and Dine Festival back to The Venetian Macao’soutdoor lagoon area with a kick-off ceremony Thursday, launching a four-day celebration of food and wine against the backdrop of the spectacular integrated resort city offerings of Cotai Strip Resorts Macao. Running March 20-23, the Macau Wine and Dine Festival 2014 is supported by the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the Institute for Tourism Studies, Macao (IFT), and the Macau Sommelier Association, organized by The Wine Society of Macau and sponsored by The Venetian Macao.It is the largest wine event in Macaoand brings together 30 booths featuring more than 100 internationally recognized products, spread across a four-day extravaganza of entertainment, wine appreciation courses, tastings, pairings and more. To celebrate the official launch of the festival, officiating guests cracked open a bottle of sparkling wine to the cheers of the gathered crowd of eager revellers. In attendance were Mr. Cheng Wai Tong, representing the Macau Government Tourist Office; Mr Kevin Fong, representing the Fairs and Exhibitions Sector of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute; Mr. David Wong, representing theInstitute for Tourism Studies;Mr. Harrison Lun, representing the Macau Sommelier Association;Mr. Hugo Robarts Bandeira, Wine Master; and Mr. Brett Ingram, Director of Destination Event Marketing, Venetian Macau Limited. A wide variety of international culinary delights serve as pairing or individual palate experiences and a constant set of street and stage entertainment programs and wine workshops run throughout the four-day event at The Venetian Macao. The workshops for various levels of proficiency – from entry level to master classes, wine pairings, wine appreciation and winemaking techniques are all available for guests to experience.The Wine School offers courses such as wine tasting of wines from Italy, Spain, South Africa and Portugal, and knowledge of wine pairing with cuisines like Indian and Chinese. Event entry is free, with cash coupons and Wine Passes available for purchase. Cash coupons cost MOP/HKD 10 each and a MOP/HKD 100 Wine Pass comes with 10 couponsand one free wine glass. In its second year at The Venetian Macao’soutdoor lagoon area, the Wine and Dine Festival continues to be the largest wine festival in Macao. The festival kicked off Thursday and runsthrough Sunday.
