Oriol Montal takes over as JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa’s new General Manager on March 7, 2014.
Montal brings with him 20 years of experience in the hotel industry in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Known for his leadership skills and results-driven approach, Montal was educated at Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne and Cornell University and in addition to his native Spanish, also speaks fluent Catalan, French, English and Portuguese.
Montal began his career in the food and beverage department at Hotel Barcelona Sants, then furthered his skills and knowledge at Hotel Arts, Barcelona and The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai. He was General Manager at Penha Longa Resort near Lisbon and Abama Golf & Spa Resort in Tenerife - both The Ritz-Carlton properties - before relocating to Asia in 2011 as General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka.“Oriol has proven his leadership abilities time and time again, and we look forward to further success for him in this new role at one of our flagship JW Marriott resorts in Asia”, said Philip Bryson, JW Marriott’s Area Vice President, SE Asia, Australia and South Pacific.
