Visa works with retailers and banks to expand Visa payWave acceptance across Bangkok
Visa has partnered with a number of leading retailers across Bangkok to deliver a faster and more convenient way to pay and provide cash back discounts and exclusive offers for Visa payWave cardholders from 1 April until the end of June 2014.
Visa cardholders will receive THB 150 cash back for every three contactless Visa payWave transactions they complete throughout the promotion period[1]. Other exclusive offers include: buy one get one free on selected burgers at McDonald’s; buy one get one free movie tickets every Friday at SF cinemas; spend THB 500 or over at participating branches of Tesco Lotus and Big C supermarket and receive THB 100 credited back to your card; and receive a free a cup of Instant Noodles when you spend more than THB 200 at Family Mart[2].
Somboon Krobteeranon, Visa Country Manager, Myanmar and Thailand, said: “This promotion is designed to reward existing Visa payWave users and encourage new users to experience the speed and convenience of contactless technology, while enjoying some special offers from brands they know and love. We’re committed to working with banks and retailers across Thailand to make the faster and more convenient payment option of Visa payWave a reality for our cardholders.”
Visa has been working with banks in Thailand to expand Visa payWave acceptance at a growing number of retailers including: McDonald’s, Home Fresh Mart, Bookazine, Asia Books, Gourmet Market, SF Cinema, The Mall, Big C and Family Mart supermarkets.
Chatchai Payuhanaveechai, Executive Vice President, Kasikornbank said: “We’re proud to be partnering with Visa to offer our customers a faster way to pay with K Wave Visa credit cards. With an exciting range of offers in this promotion, and a growing number of retailers, we expect even more of our customers to simply ‘wave and go’ to experience the benefits of Visa payWave.”
With Visa payWave, the card doesn’t need to be swiped by the sales assistant, and no signature or PIN (Personal Identification Number) is required for purchases under THB 1,500. It enables Visa cardholders to make faster payments in a convenient and secure manner. Visa payWave cards have an embedded antenna and microchip, enabling "contactless" communication with a reader at the checkout. From there, the transaction is processed through the same secure Visa network used for all Visa transactions. Cardholders simply wave their Visa payWave card over a secure reader to pay and go.
