Thai bourse continues “Your 1st Click” campaign to boost online investors

Bangkok--31 Mar--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has continued its online trading campaign “Your 1st Click” with focus on digital marketing, with cooperation of key partners “Sanook.com” and “WeChat” application as well as 32 brokers. The campaign aims at expanding promising internet trading growth among new investors, expecting to increase online investors by 120,000 new accounts this year. SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira said the campaign was in line with SET’s commitment to expand quality investor base. There have been increasing numbers of internet users, reportedly 18.3 million last year. In accordance with the popularity of digital media, the number of online trading accounts has continuously increased each year. In 2013, there were 157,564 online accounts, up 54 percent from a year earlier. At present, online trading accounts are 62 percent of total trading accounts or 57 percent of the total domestic trading value. SET aimed to increase online investors by 120,000 accounts this year. “In 2014, SET has continued to increase online investor base with focus on digital marketing by joining hands with key partners “Sanook.com,” and “WeChat” application in order to enhance information access more efficiently and effectively, targeting university students, first jobbers and workers at the age range of 28-40 years. These digital channels should boost the number and quality of investors,” Charamporn added. One of the campaign highlights is to roll out the first brand ambassador of “Your 1st Click” campaign, that is, Nani Nijjaree, a 20-year-old university student, who has made over THB one million profit from investment before she graduated. Her profile could inspire new generation to be keen on investment and financial literacy.
