Bangkok--1 Apr--KTC “KTC” announces new vision “Make it Better” to highlight CSR efforts as well as reaffirm the status of the firm as a Membership Company and a knowledge-sharing organization. This is to be realized in alignment with employees, members and business partners through activities planned throughout 2014. These activities are designed to create sustainable benefits for all stakeholders and will be comprehensive in that they will involve aspects such as body, emotion, interaction and intellect. Students under the Learn & Earn @ KTC project will be given the opportunities of personal development, preparation towards AEC and benevolence. Mrs. Ubolrat Busyakanistha, Head of Human Resources, “KTC” or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited, says, “As a financial institution, KTC is also a Membership Company where everything revolves around our members. We do not simply try to achieve our business goals, but as we proceed with our operation, we always try to engage in activities that contribute to the society through our support of younger people who comprise our key target group. Our Learn & Earn @ KTC project is a very good example. It has been running for over ten years now and given numerous university students the chance to start a career, earn extra income and appreciate how to efficiently manage their money.” “As for the year 2014, our corporate social responsibility activities will put a greater emphasis on the business goals of creating ‘Top Value’ and ‘Sustainable Organization’. In addition to growth and profit, KTC has a firm interest in sustainable social development where all stakeholders will equally enjoy benefits including members, business partners, employees, shareholders, communities and general members of the society. This generally involves the enhancement of living conditions and quality of life of the people as well.” “Our CSR activities in 2014 can be classified into three categories. Where our business is concerned, we will encourage credit card and personal loan members to spend reasonably in order to avoid debt which arises unnecessarily. We will continue to analyze and develop products, services and marketing activities that match the needs of our members. Also, knowledge-sharing activities will be held, as well as those intended to alleviate the burden of the members in various ways. Internally, KTC will create an environment or an ambiance where all employees can work together happily, with the shared love of and the identification as one with the organization. We will cultivate in employees of all levels the awareness of social responsibility and the need to creatively and voluntarily contribute. Externally, we will continue to help develop children and younger people in terms of body, emotion, interaction and intellect. This is because we want to see the future generation of healthy, competent, happy and ethical people. Our plan is to achieve that by inspiring these younger people to develop the skills needed to care for themselves in the long run, by sharing with them the knowledge from experts that they can use directly and indirectly, and, by engaging in community relations through our Learn & Earn @ KTC program and through educational institutions and communities which may include special needs children. We also offer credit card and personal loan members the chance to convert their rewards points into cash donation for the benefit of various foundations. There are 23 foundations participating in our program currently.” “Our plan for external CSR initiatives and the Learn & Earn @ KTC program this year will focus on sustainable development of potentials for these younger people. We want to prepare them for the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community or AEC in 2015. Under the ‘Thai children preserving Thailand on the way to AEC’ concept, the activities will fall under three main components. 1) Personal Skills Development, such as English for communication courses and college study guidance. 2) Learning Society Creation, such as workshops to help participants broaden their perspective and become inspired in the process. The first of such workshops is ‘CSR & Social Enterprise Workshop for Learn & Earn @ KTC’ where participants are given hands-on experience on how to conduct a CSR-oriented business through the examples of successful young people. More activities are planned for each month to bring to participants extracurricular experience and to prepare them as a good and informed host for visiting ASEAN neighbors. This is achieved, for example, with activities such as the ‘Retracing History of Thailand at the National Museum’ to rediscover the roots of the Thai people and other important concepts such as sufficiency agriculture as we prepare for the oncoming ASEAN Economic Community. 3) Social Giver’s Training, where young participants are asked to contribute ideas and participate in activities for the benefit of less fortunate members of the society,” says Mrs. Ubolrat in conclusion.
