NESCAFE Dolce Gusto holds ‘COFFEE CAN BE CHARITY’ – inviting art lover celebs to auction off art coffee machines

Bangkok--4 Apr--Bangkok Public Relations - Nestle’s NESCAFE Dolce Gusto builds on the success of the Asian Design Contest 2013* - For the first time ever, renowned Thai artists, among them Kongpat ‘Ong’ Sakdapitak, Pattreeda ‘Pang’ Prasarnthong and Hatairat ‘Oh – Futon’ Charoenchaichana, take part in redesigning smart coffee machines - Features the last and final design creation by Thailand’s foremost graphic designer and street artist, Pharuephon Mukdasanit a.k.a MAMAFAKA, who recently passed away Nestle (Thai) Ltd., producer of NESCAFE Dolce Gusto, the automatic coffee machine that breaks traditions by combining ingenious functionality with outstanding design, recently hold a charity auction of coffee machines designed by Thailand’s leading artists. Under the theme ‘Coffee Can Be Charity’, the event, builds on the success of the NESCAFE Dolce Gusto Asian Design Contest 2013 which drew more than 260 entries from local designers.* On hand to share their inspirations and impressions on the advanced design of the smart coffee machines and their ideas of art for society were the artists themselves, including Janewit Limthamrong or P7, ‘Gift’ Rakkij Kuanhavej, Thanyaporn Matchatikhun of BNK Studio and Asst. Prof. Wutigorn Kongka. Also joining the event were Anicha Austhasakulchai of ‘LoveBird’ and Milin Yuvacharuskul of ‘Milin’. Welcoming them was Mr. Grzegorz Florkow, Brand Manager for NESCAFE Dolce Gusto, Nestle (Thai) Ltd. at Silom Complex. * NESCAFE Dolce Gusto Asian Design Contest 2013 was held during October 2013 to encourage Thai designers to channel their talent and creativity into designing coffee makers with a potential for commercial production. 2 Thai inspiring designers have been sent to Tokyo to participate in regional finale. Nine of Thailand’s renowned artists who designed the special versions of coffee machines are: 1. Oh Futon – Hatairat Charoenchaichana; 2. Pattreeda ‘Pang’ Prasarnthong; 3. Rakkij ‘Gift’ Kuanhavej; 4. Asst. Prof. Wutigorn Kongka; 5. Thanyaporn Matchatikhun of BNK Studio; 6. Pasinee ‘Jeep’ Kongdechakul; 7. Kongpat ‘Ong’ Sakdapitak; 8. Janewit Limthamrong a.k.a P7 9. MAMAFAKA – Pharuephon Mukdasanit. All proceeds raised from the auction will benefit five charity organizations: 1. The Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand Under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra – helps underprivileged children with heart disease and blood vessel-related illnesses 2. Yuwabadhana Foundation – supports underprivileged children to have access to fundamental education that matches their capabilities and intelligence 3. World Vision Foundation of Thailand – reinforces communities’ potential and strengths with child-centered development 4. Sosa Foundation of Thailand Under the Royal Patronage of HM the Queen – helps orphaned children to find them a second family 5. Cartoonthai Institute Foundation for Children – works as a community of cartoon lovers and a stage for youth to present their cartooning skills Mr. Grzegorz Florkow, Brand Manager for NESCAFE Dolce Gusto, Nestle (Thai) Ltd., explains, “Nestle never stops creating innovative products to serve consumer needs and lifestyles. In our opinion, art is not just for personal pleasure, it is also for sharing,” added Mr. Florkow In this event, NESCAFE Dolce Gusto keeps trendsetter concept in a form of chic ‘Coffee Cocktail’ party, first time ever in Thailand. Also joining the party were ‘DUDESWEET’, an idol party organiser of indy-style lovers. Well-known celebrities do not miss this occasion to appreciate and bid for creative art pieces of genius coffee machines. Rakkij ‘Gift’ Kuanhavej, one of Thailand’s renowned artists who designed the special versions of coffee machines said, “The design of NESCAFE Dolce Gusto is already outstanding in terms of artistic value judging from the world-class awards and accolades it has received. But what makes it even more impressive is the machine’s contemporary silhouette which can be a foundation for the owner or the general public to transform it into a number of unique art pieces. The materials and textures used in the machine design makes it suitable for use with a variety of decorative materials. It inspires a limitless explosion of creativity.” Asst. Prof. Wutigorn Kongka, one of Thailand’s renowned artists who designed the special versions of coffee machines said, “Art is something that is open. Today, I’m so happy and honoured that my work can be of benefit to society. I believe that the winning bidders will, in return, be inspired by the priceless works of art by these great designers. The money raised from the auction will also go towards supporting the activities of the five charity organizations.” Mr. Florkow added, “In this auction, we take the opportunity to pay tribute to the recently deceased MAMAFAKA – Pharuephon Mukdasanit, Thailand’s foremost graphic designer whose one of his last and final works of art is imprinted on our coffee machine. He put his unique and well-known character ‘Mr. HellYeah’ on the coffee machine as the main concept, making this art piece invaluable and distinctively representing his identity as MAMAFAKA.” The coffee machine designed by MAMAFAKA – Pharuephon Mukdasanit will be handed over to his family NESCAFE Dolce Gusto has uploaded videos showing the design process and interviews with designers for fans to get updates.
