Bangkok--14 May--Communication & more
Loving care for the elders or showing gratitude towards them are embedded as parts of Thailand’s beautiful culture. DSG International (Thailand) Public Company Limited, Thailand’s leading provider of disposable adult diapers under the ‘Certainty’ brand, has thus collaborated with Ramathibodi Foundation under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in launching the “Gratified Merit Making with Certainty Campaign Year 2”. Designed to support the foundation’s project to provide medical devices to serve an increasing need of both inpatient and outpatient elderlies in order to have better quality of life, this campaign raises funds by accepting parts of the Certainty’ diaper’s revenues and its Facebook-based donations.
Mrs. Chachanee Anantwatanapong, General Manager of DSG International (Thailand) Public Company Limited, as the representative of manufacturer and distributor of disposal adult diapers under the ‘Certainty’ brand, states that her firm has fully recognized the importance of the elders and the need to promote, not just their good health, but also their good quality of life. According to Mrs. Chachanee, deteriorating health and illnesses can affect the elders’ everyday life. One of the most common problems is incontinence or the inability to control excretion. Many elderly people have developed such symptom and thus decided to avoid social activities due to lack of confidence. In the end, these elderly people spend most of their time alone at home.
DSG International (Thailand) wishes to ensure that the elders can live a normal life and enjoy activities they used to do in their younger years. The firm believes that through proper medical care by healthcare professional and loving attention from their family, the elderly people can live the happy and quality life.
Guided by this vision, DSG or the Certainty has joined hands with Ramathibodi Foundation in organizing the “Gratified Merit-Making with Certainty” Campaign Year 2” for the purposes of promoting good health and good quality of life among the elderly. The campaign seeks to encourage children and grandchildren to show their gratitude towards their elders while allowing Certainty-product users as well as members of the general public to join the merit-making activities. Two simple ways to take part in the campaign are:
Firstly, Certainty-product users can automatically support the campaign when making purchases. Some proceeds from Certainty’s revenues from now till December 14, 2014 will go toward Ramathibodi Foundation. Secondly, anyone can contribute by giving a “Like” to the Certaintyclub’s Facebook Page or sharing its merit-making news on the social-media platform by July 31, 2014. This Facebook activity generates “a donation of Bt1 per Like”. The funds raised by the campaign will be used in Ramathibodi Foundation’s project to procure medical devices for the elderly patients at Ramathibodi Hospital so as to improve their quality of life.
Ramathibodi Foundation’s executive director Associate Professor Dr. Thanya Subhadrabhandu, the deputy dean for Service of Mahidol University’s Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, reveals that Ramathibodi Hospital has now treated an average of 1.4 million outpatients and 45,000 inpatients each year. The growing number of patients, according to him, has led to the shortage of medical facilities, including medical Devices. Ramathibodi Hospital, therefore, wishes to acquire a budget for the procurement of modern medical devices to achieve greater efficiency and to accommodate the rising number of patients, particularly the elderly patients.
Thailand is on its path of becoming an aging society. The Public Health Ministry has revealed that there are now estimated 9.4 million Thais who are 60 years old or older. As the number of the elderly people grows by 500,000 each year, the country’s senior population will reach 14.4 million by 2025, and by then Thailand will become a full-fledged aging society.
The elders are valuable human resources. Sharing accumulated knowledge and extensive experiences, they can contribute to both their families and the society even when their physical health weakens. With the caring attention from their children and grandchildren, the elders will be able to maintain relatively good health mentally and physically. Nurtured by love and happiness, the elders will be able to live a normal life and join family activities. Where they are recognized as important family members, the elders feel empowered and are more than ready to maintain their health. While medical workers can take care of the elderly people’s physical health, the rest relies on support from their families.
Ms.Punsiree Kunakornpaiboonsiri Managing Director of Rama Foundation said that “On behalf of Ramathibodi Foundation, I would like to thank DSG International (Thailand) for continuing the ‘Gratified Merit-Making with Certainty’ campaign to raise funds for the foundation’s project to procure medical devices. This is a way to help cash-strapped patients and to enhance the quality of life for elderly patients,”
