MC GROUP Public Company Limited (“MC”) posted its first quarter sales revenue of 855 million baht which is equivalent to a drastic 27% growth from the same period last year.
MC GROUP also announced that its net profit reached 207 million baht or grew significantly by 14% compared to the same period in 2013. The top line and bottom line improvements were in line with the growth targets of MC GROUP while extensive sales network expansion and positive consumer responses to new brands launched in 2013 contributed to these impressive results. Besides, the revenue realization from the newly acquired business, Time Deco Corporation Limited also helped boost the revenue and profit numbers further.
Mrs. Pratana Mongkolkul, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of MC GROUP commented that MC GROUP’s point of sales are not concentrated in just one area but rather spread across Bangkok and this fact really alleviated the negative impacts from the big protest in Bangkok center. Other areas were just indirectly affected from the slowdown in spending. She also noted that MC GROUP will continue to follow its 2014 business strategies in expanding the sales network to meet 110 points of sales target this year by focusing on its free standing shops. With regard to the newly acquired business, Time Deco, MC GROUP planned to open 10 more points of sales this year compared to just an average of 2 new points of sales per year from the past. Furthermore, she also mentioned the importance of building new brands and enhancing product features in order to fit customers changing preferences as another key strategy propelling the business for this year.
At the end of the 1st quarter of 2014, number of points of sales of MC GROUP reached 729 points of sales both in Thailand and other countries. In the foreign markets, MC GROUP premiered its first shop in Hanoi, Vietnam in March as well as opened 2 more shops in Myanmar during the previous quarter. As of the end of March, MC GROUP has a total of 14 points of sales in foreign markets. In addition, another mobile unit was added to the current fleet to help extend the reach to and boost sales in major communities throughout Thailand.
With regard to future business plan, Sunee Seripanu, CEO of MC GROUP discussed that
“We are confident about our growth in 2014 and committed to our goal of 20% average growth per year until 2016. The growth will be derived from strengthening both our existing business and new businesses through sales net work expansion in Thailand and neighboring countries consistent with AEC tougher with brand building to enhance awareness and image”. Furthermore, she also mentioned that additional investments in lifestyle business are needed to be made in order to diversify and strengthen its core business. Supply chain management is also among the key strategic initiatives aiming to enhance efficiency to supportMC GROUP’s ambitious business expansion.
