Bangkok--15 May--Qantas
Qantas flew The Lighthouse Family to Australia last month to film a number of vacation episodes for the popular Thai TV program.
The Lighthouse Family travelled from Bangkok to Sydney on a Qantas A330 aircraft, visited a number of iconic locations in Sydney and Hobart and filmed a range of family activities including cooking and fruit farming.
Qantas Regional General Manager Asia Nick McGlynn said the Qantas was pleased to support The Lighthouse Family and have Australian destinations feature in the popular Thai family program.
“As the national carrier, we are proud to carry the cast and help showcase Australia as a destination for potential visitors from Thailand looking to plan their own family vacation”.
“An estimated 2.3 million people will watch each episode, which is great exposure for Australia and for tourism,” he added.
This follows Qantas’ recent partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Television to bring top rated American comedy series Modern Family to Australia. Almost 10 million Americans tuned in to watch the debut of the episode filmed in Australia earlier this year, with qantas.com recording a 25 percent spike in US visitors in the days following the airing of the episode.
The Lighthouse Family program airs every Sunday on TV Channel 5 throughout Thailand from 0850-0915. The Australia series will run for 8 weeks.
