Stamford International University, a respected and established innovative educational institute in Thailand which has a mission to expand access to quality higher education with a highly personalized approach, is hosting a press conference and a tour of its new cutting-edge campus in Bangkok. The tour will offer media representatives an insight into its pioneering approach aimed at creating new benchmarks in the education sector through academic innovation, such as new delivery models, tailored learning environments, international relationships and pathways, professional development opportunities and innovative employer engagement initiatives.
The press conference, which is entitled, “Academic Innovation - Key to International Success,” will demonstrate how Stamford aims to create distinction through its Bilingual Programs for Bachelor degree and Signature M.B.A. programs that will contribute to the increasing competitiveness of Thai students ahead of AEC integration in 2015. As language concerns have deterred many students from pursuing their program of choice, Stamford has addressed this through its innovative approach which entails a seamless integration into programs delivered in English.
Students enrolled in the Bilingual Program for Bachelor degree start classes in Thai, with a gradual introduction to English as part of their program. The second and third years of the program introduce blended English/Thai learning, giving students progressive English confidence, with the final year (four) taught almost entirely in English. By the end of the degree, students have completed an amazing journey from English-shy to English-exceptional, in additional to achieving a degree that is recognized worldwide. This delivery model is a first in Thailand and has been well received by the students enrolled thus far.
The strong drive for academic innovation has also resulted in another first – Thailand’s first 18-month blended learning M.B.A. program. The new delivery model offering greater flexibility is targeted at students who need to accommodate a full-time job in addition to their elective study time. Stamford’s Signature M.B.A. is tailor-made for convenience and ease of study, requiring just one visit per week to the Bangkok Campus while adhering to the high levels of standard and quality required for a world-class qualification.
Led by a commitment to academic innovation and strong graduate outcomes, Stamford’s online platform allows students to personalize their learning experience and access course materials 24-7. Stamford is the first private university in Thailand to partner with Blackboard, a comprehensive on-line learning system trusted by thousands of renowned institutions worldwide. Interactive digital materials include on-demand media content, videos, global business case studies and live discussion forums designed to enable students to learn more effectively whilst providing Stamford’s faculty professors with new tools to engage each student. Additionally, the course also offers students opportunities to connect with global business leaders, local industry leaders and cutting-edge international events such as the World Business Forum and World Innovation Forum.
Associate Prof. Dr. Boonmark Sirinaovakul, President of Stamford International University, said, “Stamford’s dual innovations of progressive blended learning through our Bilingual Program for Bachelor degree and the study-anywhere adaptability of our Signature M.B.A present two unique gateways for students facing different yet equally significant challenges; one overcomes a lack of confidence in English, the other overcomes a lack of free time to study. Both solutions result in a globally recognized qualification, and a student who is empowered to take advantage of many, many opportunities which will be available to them following AEC integration in 2015.”
A member of the global Laureate Network, Stamford works closely with big players in international business, taking time to understand the needs of employers, and creating realistic job opportunities for Stamford students. Stamford’s courses are designed to teach “soft skills for the real world”; skills such as problem-solving, leadership and strategic thinking – attributes and qualities that reflect the goal to ensure strong graduate outcomes and boost employability prospects.
All of its courses are delivered in the most “student-centric” way possible; this means everything Stamford does is built around supporting the student, providing a gradual pathway to English confidence and proven, quantifiable outcomes. In the latest results of the External Quality Assessment for 2009-2011, the Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment of Thailand has awarded Stamford an ‘excellent’ score for all its four schools – Business Administration, Science and Technology, Liberal Arts and Graduate School. Additionally, Stamford achieved top marks in 10 assessment criteria, which evaluates graduate outcomes.
Stamford’s highly recognized International Hotel Management Programme is already well known in the industry; the University’s mock hotel rooms and Leura Restaurant are dedicated facilities which offer real-world learning environments for students studying for a career in food, beverage and hospitality, and its newly launched Communication Arts program will support students seeking careers in mass media, including radio and audio production, television production, print media, Internet, graphics and animation.
