Siam Motors Group: expands its golf course business in Thailand by adding another 765 rai of land worth 1,315 million THB to open Siam Country Club Pattaya Waterside, an 18-hole golf course. Featuring “Waterfront” and “Friendly Course” concept, Siam Country Club Pattaya Waterside is designed by IMG Golf Course Design, constructed by Golf East with its club house designed by the Office of Bangkok Architect. Siam Country Club Pattaya Waterside is the third golf course under the name of “Siam Country Club” which aims to become another “CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE”. The golf course is set to open in May 2014.
Dr. Phornthep Phornprapha, Chairman of Thongthaworn Pattana Co., Ltd. under Siam Motors Group, reveals that: “In 2004, from the concept to develop the land in Siam Motors Group in Pattaya, we could see recent changes and growth of Pattaya in terms of tourism, industrial estates in Eastern Seaboard and transportation from Bangkok to Chonburi and Suvarnabhumi Airport. As a consequence, we came up with the idea to expand the business in Siam Motors Group to include an international standard golf course in order to meet the needs of tourists as well as Thai and international businessmen while simultaneously serving the growth of golf industry in Thailand.
“After the success of Siam Country Club Pattaya which has been open for more than 43 years and widely known by Thai and International golfers. it was renovated in 2006 and changed its name to “Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course” with its 18 holes in the location of challenging hills. It opened in 2007, simultaneously with the construction of Plantation course. This second golf course opened in 2008 under the name of “Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation” with its 27 holes and spectacular panoramic view. Both golf courses have been selected as venues for HONDA LPGA Thailand for 7 consecutive years (2007 – 2014) which has helped promote Siam Country Club and Thailand among golfers around the world.”
“More importantly, Siam Motors Group has placed great emphasis on using golf industry to attract tourists to play more sports while providing new sporting experiences to professional golfers from all over the world. In 2012, Siam Motors Group invested an additional amount of 1,315 million THB to build the third golf course under the name of “Siam Country Club Pattaya Waterside: CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE” which can be divided into 550 million THB for construction and 765 THB for land prices. With the concept to make it different from Old Course and Plantation, Siam Country Club Pattaya Waterside is capable of serving all international golf matches with its beautiful scenery of big lakes which make it more challenging for golfers in all levels.”
The Design:
Siam Country Club Pattaya Waterside was designed by IMG Golf Course Design, the leading company under IMG Group with high reputation and long experiences in sport, constructed by Golf East with its clubhouse designed by Mr. Samit Obayawat of the Office of Bangkok Architect and constructed by Sumitomo Mitsui Construction. These four companies are well known both domestically and internationally. Golfers at all levels who love challenging sports will be surely satisfied with beautiful sceneries of mountains and shady atmosphere with full facilities. Highlights:
Siam Country Club Pattaya Waterside features 18 holes and the standard length of 7,489 yards on the area of 765 rai divided into golf course area (471 rai), club house (34 rai), four big lakes (260 rai) that lie parallel to the golf course. The golf course was designed in accordance with the area while the area of the green was enlarged from others. Some holes are on the same level with water while the fairway is very challenging as it is narrow and long. At the same time, the lakes provide challenging obstacles for the golfers to go off the tee to the fairway which curls like crescent so the golfers have to carefully check the direction of the wind. In short, we can say that the golf course offers something for all tastes and will surely not disappoint any golfers. In addition, the grass has been meticulously selected to suit the overall condition of the golf course. On the green, Tif Eagle Bermuda grass was chosen, thanks to its special characteristic to provide green speed and beautiful color. On fairway, Seashore Paspalum grass was selected due to its high density which provides beautiful deep green color. The bunger was designed to be in the position to provide tricks and challenges to the golfers before approaching to the green.
Signature Hole:
Hole 8 par-5 618 yards is absolutely a signature hole suitable for championship tournament, while Hole 16 offers spectacular scenery as you look back to see the luxury of Club House. In addition, there will be 3-rai area for the first Putting Course in Asia.
