- Ericsson end-to-end voice over LTE solution including the full suite of telephony features and nationwide deployment of Single Radio Voice Call Continuity technology at initial VoLTE service launch
Just three months ago, SingTel announced their intention to deliver voice over LTE (VoLTE) services in Singapore. Starting on 31 May, SingTel is launching 4G ClearVoice nationwide, a commercial full-featured voice over LTE service that offers a complete suite of telephony features such as call waiting and forwarding on the LTE network. To ensure a high-quality customer experience users are automatically switched to the 3G network if out of LTE network coverage.
4G ClearVoice complements SingTel’s efforts in delivering the fastest mobile broadband services in Singapore. Customers will enjoy the flexibility of making HD voice calls and using ultra high speed LTE mobile data services at the same time.
The service offering leverages Ericsson’s comprehensive voice over LTE solution which includes the voice handover technology Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC).
Mr Tay Soo Meng, SingTel’s Group Chief Technology Officer of Group Consumer, said: "SingTel is excited to work with Ericsson to launch the world's first nationwide full-featured commercial VoLTE service. 4G ClearVoice is a breakthrough in the mobile industry which demonstrates our commitment to being at the forefront of innovation. With crystal clear quality and super-fast call set-up, every 4G ClearVoice conversation will be an enjoyable experience."
Arun Bansal, Head for Region Southeast Asia and Oceania, Ericsson, said: "Ericsson and SingTel have once again introduced an innovative service in Singapore. Our continued partnership allows us to provide SingTel with world-class LTE and VoLTE solutions, and integration services that ensure swift and successful network deployment and activation."
For the SingTel network, Ericsson has delivered a complete VoLTE solution; including the LTE Radio Access Network, Ericsson Evolved Packet Core, Ericsson IP Multimedia Subsystem with Ericsson Multimedia Telephony Application Server, Ericsson Call Session Control Function, Ericsson Session Border Gateway, Ericsson Media Resource System, and Ericsson Home Subscriber Server, and end-to-end system integration services. The installed Ericsson Mobile Softswitch Solution and Ericsson WCDMA Radio Access Network are also upgraded to support voice handover to 3G.
Ericsson has signed more than 190 commercial contracts for LTE and Evolved Packet Core (EPC) in more than 70 countries on six continents, of which more than 140 networks have already gone live commercially. Ericsson has supported all the world’s first commercial VoLTE launches and is the IMS market leader with more than 115 IMS contracts worldwide for both fixed- and mobile accesses. Ericsson is present today in all high traffic LTE markets including US, Japan, South Korea, Australia and Canada, and has been selected by the top 10 LTE operators as ranked by LTE subscription worldwide. Today, 50 percent of the world's LTE Smartphone traffic is served by Ericsson networks which is more than double the traffic of our closest competitor.
