Bangkok--13 Jun--Asian Institute of Technology A delegation of Singapore-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia (Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa) headed by its CEO, Ms. Mandy Mok delivered a presentation at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 9 June 2014 and complimented the Institute on its internationality. Accompanied by Mr. Ashwin Fernandes, Head of Client Relations, QS Asia, Singapore Office, Ms. Mok stated that QS reviews almost 3000 universities every year out of which 800 are ranked, placing them in the top five per cent of all higher education institutes worldwide. Delineating the difference between ratings and rankings, Ms. Mok remarked that rankings are simpler with six indicators being used to evaluate universities. Ratings, on the other hand, are paid products, and are more robust with close to 50 key performance indicators being considered. In 2009, QS launched its “Asian University Ranking” for the first time. She also showcased a number of products, exhibitions, conferences and publications developed by QS while delivering her talk on “Internal and External Strategies for Internationalisation.” Her talk was followed by an interactive session, where Mr. Fernandes enumerated the details of the QS ranking system. Prof. Sivanappan Kumar, Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs led the discussion. The two later met with the AIT administration, including Prof. Worsak Kanok Nukulchai, Interim President, and members of the AIT Management Team.
