Targets to increase total warehouse space for rent in the three locations by 300,000 square meters
Mr. Patan Somburanasin, Managing Director of TPARK or TICON Logistics Park Co., Ltd., the leading logistics warehouses and facilities developer for lease in Thailand disclosed that TPARK has moved ahead with its plan to expand warehouse for rent business to all regions of Thailand. With an investment budget of Baht 3.6 billion within 3-5 years, the company has already started development of logistics park in Khon Kaen province and will proceed to Surat Thani and Lamphoon provinces. Construction of the three projects will add over 300,000 square meters more to TPARK’s total warehouse space for rent. Rentable space in the regional locations will be available starting 2nd quarter of 2015.
According to Patan, TPARK has started securing land banks around Thailand since 2013, comprising 173 rais in Khon Kaen, 70 rais in Surat Thani and 162 rais in Lamphoon respectively. The land will be developed into ready-to-use logistic warehouse to serve the fast growing business and industrial sectors such as, consumer products, retail and modern trade, logistics and construction materials business in the provinces following the growing regional spending and upcoming AEC in 2015.
“Development of logistics park project in the three provinces has already started. TPARK Khon Kaen will provide a total warehouse space of 136,364 square meters. Construction of the first phase will be completed in the 2nd quarter of 2015 covering 10,000 square meters of smaller sizes of Ready-built warehouses from 800 to 1,000 square meters per unit to suit market demand in the area. Target customers are modern trade, consumer products, logistics providing and construction material business. TPARK Khon Kaen is located in the southern part of the province and 10 km from Khon Kaen bypass. Khon Kaen is also geographically located in the center of the North Eastern region of the country, the province is most suitable to be distribution center to other provinces in the region. In addition, the province is also very modernized with population of high purchasing power.
TPARK Surat Thani is located only 6 kms from Surat Thani International Airport. Construction of the first phase will start during the 4th quarter of this year. Once completed in the 3rd quarter of 2015, the project will have a total of 40,662 square meters of warehouse space for rent. Potential clients for Surat Thani include wholesale and retail business, consumer products, modern trade and logistics providing business. Since Surat Thani is located in the center of the Southern region, the province will best facilitate products distribution to support tourism business in the South.
The latest project, TPARK Lamphoon is aimed at providing a total warehouse space of 126,566 square meters. Construction will be completed by the 4th quarter of 2015. Target customers include consumer products, wholesale and retail businesses, modern trade, logistics providing business and tourism. Strategically located only 10 kilometres from Chiang Mai’s 3rd Ring Road, TPARK Lamphoon will strongly support the economic growth in the Northern region.”, said Mr. Patan.
TPARK also plans for overseas investment to serve the economic and industrial growth of ASEAN countries following the AEC due to be effective in 2015. The company has conducted feasibility study of ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam. TPARK is likely to invest in Myanmar and Vietnam. The company is now discussing an investment in Myanmar with a client for construction of distribution centers for retail and consumer products. Initial total space is expected to be around 10,000 – 15,000 square meters. At the same time TPARK is exploring potential locations in the South of Vietnam. Negotiation with a client is underway to develop a total 20,000 square meters of warehouses for retail and consumer products.
