SCG to strive towards HVA product development to become an ASEAN sustainable business leader

กรุงเทพฯ--2 ก.ย.--SCG SCG announces its investment projects in the cement – building materials business continuing to develop HVA products with a total combined value of 3,190 million Baht. The investments include increasing the HVA mortar plants’ production capacity as well as in construction-related retail business in ASEAN, and R&D, reflecting the company’s vision to become the ASEAN sustainable business leader. Mr. Kan Trakulhoon, President & CEO of SCG announces that the Board of Directors of SCG has approved investment projects in the cement – building materials business and continued efforts in high value added products (HVA), in accordance to SCG’s strategy to become an ASEAN sustainable business leader. With a total combined value of 3,190 million Baht, project details are as follows: Mortar Business: An approximate 2,800 million Baht investment towards a 2 million ton HVA mortar plants in Khon Kaen and Lampang, with an expected start up in H1/16. Mortar, a finishing product used in the wall applications, is quality consistency, ease of use, and complementary to lightweight concrete blocks. Construction-related Retail Business in ASEAN: An approximate 200 million Baht investment for a 50% stake in Global House International Company Limited, which is the ASEAN growth platform in the construction-related warehouse retailing. The other remaining 50% of the shares will be held by Siam Global House Public Company Limited. This investment is SCG’s continued growth strategy in ASEAN, possessing tremendous future opportunities while leveraging on SCG’s market leadership and business network in this region, and Siam Global House’s expertise in this field. R&D Investment: An approximate 190 million Baht investment for HVA growth to increase the stake to 20% in Lysando AG, a life sciences related R&D firm. This investment is a part of SCG’s total R&D budget of 4,000 million Baht for 2014.
