Mitsubishi Rayon donates 1 million Yen to the Alliance for Global Sustainability (AGS) Asia at AIT

Bangkok--9 Sep--Asian Institute of Technology Mitsubishi Rayon has donated 1 million Yen as support for the Alliance for Global Sustainability (AGS) Asia at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The donation was made during a visit of senior officials of Mitsubishi Rayon at AIT on 4 September 2014. The delegation included Mr. Takahiro Ikeda, Director of Board and Managing Executive Officer, Aqua Business Block, Purchasing and Logistics Department; and Mr. Tsutomu Yuri, Director, Global Business Development, Aqua Division. Mr. Ikeda also proposed that they could also send one of their employees for studying at AIT — an offer that was welcomed by the AIT President, Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai. The AIT President, while expressing his gratitude for the generous donation, stated that the Institute is an excellent platform for networking. AIT is an ideal place ASEAN, SouthEast Asia, South Asia and the rest of the world work together, he said. Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, Interim Vice President for Resource Development, stated that the contribution by Mitsubishi Rayon will help accelerate the activities of AGS, and increase the efforts in building linkages between AIT and the industrial sector. Ms. Sumana Shrestha, Program Officer, External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO), while introducing the various educational offerings at AIT, mentioned that AIT has 97 Japanese alumni.
